The mills were destroyed by fire in 1917 but replaced with new mills that continue to operate today; these include the Millstream Paper Company (now part of AkzoNobel) which manufactured paper products until 1954, and Millstream Manufacturing Company which manufactures (%) radios and televisions until 2000 According to the 2010 census, there are 2,971 people living in Millbrook statewide including 1123 residents who identify as white non-Hispanic or African American; 349 residents who identify as Hispanic or Latino; 10 residents who identify as Asian/Pacific Islander; 44 residents who identify as Native American; 3 residents who identify as multiracial or other race; 515 individuals who report being uninsured; and 6 individuals who self-report no health insurance coverage

From 1970 until 2000, Millbrook was an all- black municipality.
The mill at Millbrook was first built in 1853. The mill is now a museum and has been in operation for over 150 years.
