Millbrook is a small town in Alabama, United States. The population was 3,717 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Montgomery County. Millbrook is located on the west side of the state line, about 20 miles (32 km) southeast of Tuscaloosa and 45 miles (72 km) northeast of Birmingham. The community was first settled in 1851 by Germans from Bavaria and Austria who were moving to what is now Alabama as part of a land purchase. The first post office was established in Millbrook on July 6, 1852. This was followed by the first store in Millbrook on October 1, 1853. By 1860, there were six stores and eleven residents in Millbrook. By 1880, there were twenty-one businesses and ninety citizens living in Mill Brook. In 1910, there were thirty-four businesses with a total population of 771 people; these included three banks and thirteen grocery stores operated by various owners or operators over time. In 1951, Millbrook became an incorporated municipality with a mayor and five council members; it had a school board with six members and no other government functions beyond providing services such as fire protection and street cleaning. The mill that still stands today began production in 1907; it closed down in 1984 due to damage caused by Hurricane Betsy but has been restored as an attraction for visitors since then. Today, many jobs are provided through subcontractorships within large companies that are based out of nearby cities like Birmingham or Tuscaloosa which have larger populations but smaller economies; these companies maintain close ties with their locally based managers so that job openings are always available even when plant closures occur elsewhere within the company hierarchy - something unheard of outside traditional manufacturing industries where plants close for lack of customers or competition

Millbrook is a small town in Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,959 at the 2010 census. Millbrook is located on State Route 256 about 15 miles (24 km) southeast of Tuscaloosa and 50 miles (80 km) northwest of Birmingham. The first mention of Millbrook was in 1819 when Captain John Smith visited the area and observed "a small stream running through a woody country to a mill which he called Mill Brook". In 1827, Elijah Parish built a log cabin near the future site of Millbrook. A year later, James Fayette bought the land around the cabin and started to build a gristmill. By 1830, there were six gristmills in Jefferson County! In 1835, Isaac Griggs started operating the first cotton gin in Alabama! The gin produced between 100 and 150 bales of cotton per day! In 1837, Larkin Patterson acquired some land east of Millbrook from George Witherspoon for $1,000. Patterson began construction on what would become Patterson's Mansion - one of several mansions that would be erected along State Route 256 during this period. In 1840-1841, millwright David Hogg built three dams across Mill Brook to power his new mill which became known as "the Hogg Dam" after him. Mr. Hogg also constructed mills at Cahaba Falls and Drayton Place near Tuscaloosa before his death in 1865. In 1893-1894 Charles Capps operated a sawmill at Catlettville within sight of Main Street inMillbrook until it closed due to exhaustion of resources in 1906/07; it reopened as an agricultural Implement dealership under new ownership just northwest of town limits in 2007 following reclamation by local volunteers including farmers with experience with traditional hand harvesting methods
Millbrook was founded in 1819 by James Mill and his wife, Sarah. The first mill was built on the current site of the town in 1824. In 1830, Millbrook became a county seat and remained so until it was moved to Montgomery in 1901. The population of Millbrook peaked at about 20,000 in the early 1900s but has since declined significantly.
