With all this activity going on withinJointServicesDevelopment Authority there wasn't enough time or money allotted for public opposition which eventually led to mayoral reform following Denton's death effective January 3rd 1965 concurrent with enactment local law #611 providing that Mayor position be filled by Vice President pro tempore who shall have broad discretionary powers over all municipal affairs pending appointment by Mayor who shall have full power over budgeting & policymaking

Leeds, Alabama was located in the early Indian Territory. The first white person to settle in what is now Leeds was James Hogg, who arrived in 1819. He founded a small town named Hoggstown on the east bank of the Mobile River. By 1830, Leeds had a population of about 100 people and an army post was established there. The post was abandoned in 1835 when it became apparent that Indian resistance would not be overcome by peaceful methods. In 1840, a group of British settlers named themselves the "Trail's End Party" and set out from their settlement at Bentonville to cross theMobile River into Indian Territory. They failed to find any path that led them beyond the river's banks, so they decided to build a bridge over it. On October 9, 1840, they successfully completed their crossing and began their journey southward. The Trail's End Party is considered one of the earliest successful efforts by Europeans to enter Indian Territory without prior permission from the Native Americans
