Jacksonville was incorporated as a town on January 1, 1907. In 1925–1926 local developer Waddell Smith constructed what would become Jaxxson Boulevard across from present day EverBank Field which would be home to both Jaguars football teams until 1963 when they moved to Miamis Coliseum nearby

In 1821, Jacksonville was founded by Captain John Harrell and his brother-in-law, Nicholas Long. After much debate and public opinion being surveyed, it was decided that Jaguars should receive their own street name – First Street became known as "Jacksonville Boulevard" while Second Street became known as "First Avenue". In 1861 Jacksonville attained its present form when Confederate forces burned down many homes and businesses during an unsuccessful effort to capture Mobile Bay. The resulting fire destroyed many downtown buildings including the old city hall which stood until 1889 when it was replaced by a new building called the State Capitol Building which still stands today. During World War II troop drafts were conducted here from nearby Fort Donelson (now Chattanooga) through what is now Northside Drive south of Interstate 10th Street. A small airfield served as Jacksonville Municipal Airport from 1942 until its closure in 1969 following development within touching distance of downtown causing problems for both airport users and developers; however no trace remains remaining of this airport today
