The Hueytown Rifle and Pistol Club was chartered in 1892. It commonly refers to as the "Hueytown Riflemen." The club first met at the home of James W. Cook, Sr., located on South 6th Street in Hueytown. In 1895, they moved to a rented building on East Main Street. They continued meeting there until 1898 when they moved again, this time to their current location on North 4th Street in Hueytown. In 1904, the club purchased land from J.M. Wrights and commenced development of a rifle range and pistol range adjoining it on North 2nd Street in Hueytown which opened in 1906. From 1908-1911, the club constructed a clubhouse for use by members only on North 3rd Street in Hueytown where they still meet today under the name "The Hueytown Riflemen." On October 15, 1911, during World War I (1914-18), Captain John Sibley is credited with being the first American soldier killed while serving with France's Foreign Legion as a rifleman with Company B Battalion 5th Infantry Regiment parallel to First Army sector near Compiègne de la Somme sur Rive Gauche - approximately 8 kilometers northeast of Paris - and he is buried at La Grave Military Cemetery No 1 west of Paris close to Gavreille military airfield which served as French Air Force Base during WWI; his remains were repatriated back to America posthumously in 1919 by President Woodrow Wilson based upon international treaty ratified that same year between France and United States; captain Sibley was 38 years old when he died from wounds received during combat actions November 11-15 1914 at Belleau Wood east of Amiens 2 km south of Arras near village St Quentin about 25 miles northwest of Rouen Normandy

Hueytown is a small town in Decatur County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Hueytown is located on the Tennessee River and is part of the Birmingham–Hoover Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was named for General James H. Huey who served in the Union army during the American Civil War. The original community of Hueytown was laid out in 1881 by J. Wray Hale and others as a post office near Decatur's railroad depot. It consisted of a few log huts and two stores. In 1884, a school was built and in 1888, a Baptist Church was constructed. By 1890, there were five businesses in addition to the two stores; four of which still operate today: one grocery store, one hardware store and one restaurant/barbecue joint (the latter also known as "The Joint"). In 1901-1902, work began on what would become now known as Old Main Street; it connected downtown with new housing upriver on Signal Hill Drive which had been donated by banker John Mays to serve as both an economic development center for nearby Decatur County residents and also provide access to education opportunities for future generations living within easy commuting distance of Birmingham or Huntsville. A second phase of Mayor Ralph Abernathy's public works program saw completion of Old Main Street between Evershine Road (then US 73) and Interstate 20 wide by 1923; this section included much newer housing than that seen on Signal Hill Drive with many homes dating back to before World War II including some that are still standing today including number 812 North Main Street which once served as Abernathy's personal home until he moved into his current home at 515 Whitehall Pike in 1984 Many other improvements were made throughout those years such as extensions to Highway 31 north from Hueytown towards Auburn so that truck traffic could be diverted onto Third Avenue instead driving around curves located too close to intersections ; construction along present day Airport Boulevard from Highways 4&5 south towards downtown where commercial tenants have long since replaced military families who used the formerly military-owned airport for landing & takeoff operations during peacetime ; replacement or expansion of several churches including First Baptist Church ( subsequently renamed First Methodist Episcopal) built next door toOld Main Street east side road after being closed due to fire damage occasioned by lightning strike while building services were being performed nearby when Hurricane Andrew roared ashore eighteen months later ); incorporation within Montgomery County after statehood following ratification of United States Constitution via referendum taking place largely among white farmers statewide - all these projects brought about increased shopping malls activity within Hueytown area accounting for over 60% total mall gross sales growth over ten years period 1988-1998 . These days little remains but boarded up warehouses facades remaining exterior facade appearance only giving indication thereof former occupants having operated businesses here variously through private enterprise etc., most notably Alamo Plaza Shopping Center opened adjacent thereto circa 1997-2001 occupying former Department Store property prior thereto . Hueytown is located in Butler County, Alabama and is the county seat. The town was founded in 1877 by John Huey and his family. It is named after General Andrew Pickens, who fought in the American Civil War. Hueytown is a historic district that was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. The district covers parts of Butler, Newton, and Limestone counties. The first stores were built in 1877 and the first post office was established in 1879. In 1902, the United States Postal Service opened an post office at Hueytown which continued to serve until 1954. In 1925, a dam was built to store water for irrigating rice plantations near Hueytown. This made it difficult for farmers to sell their crops and led to a decline in population during World War II because of military service and lack of income. During the postwar period, Hueytown experienced a revival with new businesses opening up including a medical clinic and restaurant called The Grapes on Main Street. However, since 2000s there has been an increased attention from developers who have proposed building projects such as an entertainment complex or downtown shopping mall on city-owned land within the boundaries of Hueytown Historic District

The town of Hueytown was founded in 1881 by General Nathan Bedford Forrest and his black cavalry regiment. The town was named for General Forrest's father, who had fought in the American Revolution. The first post office was established in Hueytown in 1882. In 1907, the community became a city after it was annexed by Mobile.
