Hueytown is located in Butler County, Alabama and is the most populous town in the county. The population was 5,047 at the 2010 census. Hueytown is home to a number of businesses and services including a post office, banks, a hospital, and an elementary school. The community also has a small shopping district known as "The Hub." Hueytown was founded in 1881 by Captain James Maney and his wife Sarah A. Maney. Captain Maney had come from Mobile County and wanted to find a new location for his family after losing their farm there. He purchased 2 acres of land east of where he lived now and called it "Hueytown". In 1885, Captain Maney's son-in-law John Witherspoon established a store in what are now the business districts of both Hueytown and Fruitvale. Hueystown became one of the largest settlements in Butler County when it added a post office on October 3, 1886. On October 12, 1889, General John Jumper relieved Major General David Dixon who had been commandant at Fort Brooke because Dixon felt that military duty required him to be at Fort Brooke during the Spanish-American War. In 1901 Fenton Hinton developed land west of downtown that became part of what is now known as Hollywood Park which would later become part of Anheuser Busch Brewery campus area south of I-10 exit 169A/ 168B (Exit 11 for I-10 heading north). Prior to this development there were few permanent residences or businesses within downtown or even along US Highway 95E which passed through town limits until 1978 when Anheuser Busch Brewing Company moved its campus into what is today known as Hollywood Park Avenue NW adjacent to Universal Studios Florida (US 90W only passes through town limits then turns east towards Orlando). This development not only increased property values within town but also created jobs for many people outside town who would bring their goods into town on I-10 or 95E before driving back out onto US 90W which then connected with I-10 again just north of where it currently exits 166A/ 167B (Exit 10) for Sanford/Merritt Hospital near US Military Academy West Point (Old Sanford Cemetery). Hueytown's first medical facility was built on current site of Fruitvale Elementary School between 1915 and 1916 by Drs John Davenport & Willis Piggott using donated equipment from Mobile General Hospital with help from local farmers interested in providing health care for their own families. After World War II there was an increase in demand for medical services so over time additional facilities were built such as Baptist Medical Center in 1949 followed by Valley View HealthCare Facility in 1990 which still operates today as one half comprehensive primarycare clinic with outpatient surgery capabilities serving patients from surrounding communities including Dooley Village off Airport Boulevard just northeast of Interstate 10 exit 164B/ 165A - used once by Lockheed Martin Skunk Works - latter closed effective February 1st 2019 due to lack Of Patients City Council meeting minutes show that resolution #19983 calls for construction Of A New Municipal Court Building To Be Built At The Corner And Main Streets Named For President Franklin D Roosevelt In Honor Of His Service To Our Community Which Was Approved By City Council On November 7th 1998

Hueytown is a small town in Marshall County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,890 at the 2010 census. Hueytown is located on the eastern edge of Marshall County and is part of the Auburn-Opelika metropolitan area. It lies within the eastern limits of Montgomery County. The first European to visit what is now Hueytown was Captain James Cook in 1768 on his third voyage with HMS Resolution. He named it "Hueytoun" after John Huey, an early settler in the area who had been with Cook on his first mission to North America in 1684. In 1802, General Andrew Jackson moved centenarians from Mobile to live near Huntsville and they named their new home "Hueytown", after Jackson's general wife Rachelle (Corry). The old mill and other buildings were destroyed by fire in 1896 but new homes were built around it and it now functions as a museum. In 1898, Judge Roy Moore became one of three justices on the Alabama Supreme Court based in Tuscaloosa; he would later become Chief Justice of that court. In 1954, when Duster Lake opened for business as a water supply for Marshall County, Judge Moore donated land for a local high school which became known as "Moore High". Then-Mayor Will Rogers helped name that school "Hueytown" - even though Mayor Rogers never attended high school there himself! From 1930 until its closure during World War II, Hueystown Elementary School operated under the name "Alabama Elementary School No. 5". After its closure during World War II most students attendingElementary Schools located elsewhere before or during their junior year participated in Home Economics Classes offered by Mrs. Cone at Noe Hill Baptist Church until 1951 when those classes merged intoMrs Connell's Girls' Academy which continued operation until 1975 when it closed also due to lack of enrollment
The town was founded in 1871 by General James H. Huey and his wife, Evaline. The first post office opened in 1872. The town became a city in 1907.
