Hueytown is a small town in Marshall County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. The first school was built in 1887 and classes began with grades one through eight that year. A new school was built for grade nine in 1923 and classes began there that year as well. It continued to be used until it burned down in 1951. Classes then started using an old courthouse which had been abandoned for years before being renovated into a high school building in 1959-60. Today, there are six high schools within walking distance of each other including Hueytown High School which opened its doors on September 1st, 2014 In 2003, UIL student government passed a resolution requesting that Alabamian artists create murals specific to their state during homecoming season known as "Mural Time". On October 5th of that year local artist Rhett Beasley submitted his piece entitled "HueyTownUnited" which depicted Huesburghians throughout history from prehistory through modern times with notable examples such as Confederate General Robert E Lee's plantation house & cemetery; Alma Mater statue; Civil War generals Stonington & Early Brownrigg; & more! The mural received overwhelmingly positive reactions online & off campus alike! After much discussion between students & art professionals interested (& passionate about) participating - plans were made for an expansion...an additional 4 murals! And so it has been ever since - great art always inspires good conversation! #hueytowntownnation

Hueytown is a town in Bibb County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. Hueytown was founded by Captain George Huey and his family in 1871. It became an incorporated community in 1901. The town was named for General Joseph E. Johnston, who fought in the American Civil War and died of illness at the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863.

The town of Hueytown was platted in 1836, and named after General James Fenton. The first stores opened in the area in 1839. By 1845, the town had a population of 350 people. In 1865, the city of Mobile was founded to the south and Hueytown became its second city. However, by 1870, Hueytown's population had decreased to 100 people. In 1893, an oil well was drilled in the area and began production which led to increased demand for goods and services from residents of Mobile. This also caused businesses in Hueytown to prosper as they were able to sell products from outside of Mobile without having their prices raised there as well. In 1895, a school was built in Hueytown which served as the first public school in Alabama. The town continued to grow until it had a population of 3,000 people by 1910. In 1918-19, World War I took place and many residents chose not to serve due to economic reasons; however, most residents returned home during 1919-1920 when America entered into war again on behalf of Europe. After World War I ended and America resumed peace with Germany once again, business went back up for both businesses within Hueytown and outside businesses that now depended on trade between nations (eBay being one such example). Businesses flourished during this time until 1931 when Hurricane Floyd came through Alabama causing extensive damage throughout the state including much damage done within Hueytown specifically including Bridge Street where several homes were destroyed along with other structures inside or near downtown such as a Baptist church that collapsed onto its congregation Killingworth Avenue). As result of all this devastation many homes were either abandoned or sold at auction off completely unaware that Reconstruction Era policies would see them given away free once they satisfied certain conditions such as Restoration Act requirements being met (i.e., being repaired/ rebuilt/newly furnished). Meanwhile those who did manage To keep property going typically turned it over to local government agencies which then ran it under new management while maintaining basic infrastructure like water service etc.). This led eventually (in 1971)to City Hall located on current day East Main Street becoming permanent replacement for original School House building burned down just prior thereto
