Hueytown is a town in Clarke County, Alabama, United States. The population was 2,611 at the 2010 census. Hueytown is the county seat of Clarke County. It is also the home to the Hueytown Arsenal National Military Park and the Hueytown Civic Center. The first settler in what would become Hueytown was John Pemberton in 1835. J.B. Woods also settled there around this time and built a cabin on Halls Creek Road which he named "Woodsville." In 1853, John Shively bought land from Pemberton and began developing it into an area that would be known as Shively's Bottom. He laid out a road called Main Street which ran through his land and named it after himself; "Hueystown" becameSHIVELY'S Bottom or HUEYTOWN for short when it was incorporated as a town in 1876. In 1881, William Tisdale built the first permanent home in what would become Hueytown when he erected a log cabin on Old Halls Creek Road (now known as SHIVELY'S Bottom). When he died in 1902, his wife donated his farmstead to the town for use as its first municipal building. The Tisdales were followed by other early settlers such as Isaac Newton who built a cabin on their property in 1903-1904 and Wm Epps who arrived in 1907 with his family from Tellico Plains, Tennessee The settlement of Hueytown began to grow rapidly after World War I when thousands of soldiers returning home found work opportunities available here at SHIVELY'S Bottom and elsewhere within the rural areas of Clarke County while they awaited discharge from military service After World War II many farmers left agriculture for other types of businesses including trucking, aluminium production and manufacturing throughout much of rural America but they brought their families here to live until they retirement In 1959 local citizens organized themselves into committees charged with promoting tourism within their community before eventually forming the present day Chamber of Commerce In 1969 local school Superintendent Mrs Mary Bogan established vocational education programs for high school students interested in various careers including welding, machining, information technology and carpentry . these programs have continued uninterrupted ever since

Hueytown is a small town in the U.S. state of Alabama, located on the Gulf of Mexico just east of Mobile Bay. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. The first documented reference to Hueytown is in a deed from 1763 which mentions "Hueytoun". It was probably named for Colonel John Huey, who served as surveyor and deputy sheriff forMobile County from 1758-1761. In 1819, Daniel Boone's party journeyed through Mobile County and camped on the banks of the Tallapoosa River near what is now Hueytown. This became his Camp Boonesborough, which he renamed after himself in 1827. In 1824, General Andrew Jackson led an army through Mobile County and into Alabama during his invasion of Georgia and Indian Wars campaign known as the Creek War. He camped at what is now Hueytown on March 17th before continuing his march downriver to Chattanooga where he joined Union forces under General Sherman against ConfederateGeneral Robert Ewell's Army of Northern Virginia near Strasburg Heights on April 14th - 15th 1865. Nearby at Fort Pickens (now West Point), Confederate General Beauregard had unsuccessfully attempted to launch an assault against Union lines that afternoon with over 40 cannons but were repulsed with heavy losses by Union artillery fire
The first white settler in Hueytown was John C. Caldwell, who arrived in 1812. The town was named for General Andrew Jackson, who Battle of Horseshoe Bend fought near the town on July 4, 1814. In 1907, Hueytown had a population of 906 people and was a small village. A post office opened in 1909 and remained open until 1951. The first school opened in 1912 and was renamed the Central School in 1922; it is now known as Vestavia Hills Elementary School.
