In the early 1800s, a man named John Wilkinson designed an innovative means of sighting rifles using light. His Wilkinson Rifle sight was a metal plate that pivoted to aim at a target through an opening in the front. The light passing through the aperture allowed the shooter to see what he was aiming at without having to take off his rifle and look at it. Thissight was adopted by American forces in 1876, and remains popular today on many firearms platforms. In 1913, American inventor Clarence Kapp developed a laser sight known as the Kapp sight. The laser beam is focused onto a small mirror so that only tiny Cooke Phases can be seen, allowing accurate aim without taking your eyes off your target. Theseights are still in use on some firearms platforms today. In 1968, American inventor Leonard Peltier patented his Laser Sight Technology which employed green and red lasers to provide Aiming Assistance for Firearms (AAF) when used with optics devices such as riflescopes or handguns. He call this technology “LaserGuided Optics” or “LGO” for short. LGO became widely available after being patented by Peltier and marketed under the name Laserscanner 2000 by Eotech Corporation in 1990. In 2002, LaserGuided Optics Inc., created a new line of sights called LGO-3 which incorporated features of both LGO and modern electronic sights into one platform

The history of Homewood dates back to 1836 when James Lovell founded the Friendship Baptist Church in what is now Homewood. Lovell donated land to build a school and church on his farmstead. The first school in HomewOOD was built in 1859 by Mrs. Sarah Jane King and funded by Mr. Lovell himself. In 1861, Loving bought additional land and started building a new school which he called "Lovell Academy". In 1865, Mr. & Mrs.(?)Lovell gave birth to their only childhomesteader Anna Eliza (now Anna Mae) Lovell who attended Kindergarten through 8th Grade at the newschool before moving up into primary School in 1867-68 with her brothers John (Jared), George(Harry),and Thos.(Thomas). From 1870 until his death in 1925 Dr.(?)Moses Parks built most of what remains of the present day high school buildings on Main Street between Third Avenue South and Fourth Avenue South - including our current Administration Building - along with various other structures on adjacent parcels acquired during various sales/developments over time culminating with today's property total address: 5554 Main St., Prattville, AL 36169

The first type of laser sight was developed back in the early 1970s by an American scientist named David Levy. He designed what is now known as the “Levy Laser Sight”. This was a device that consisted of two pieces, one that used light to calculate how much ammunition to give off, and another piece that looked like a scope and allowed the user to adjust the focus using a knob on the side. By the late 1980s, other inventors had created similar devices which differed in design but all used lasers to emit light waves which were then focused by a lens onto an image receptor on the gun barrel. In 2007, Glock also released their own line of riflescopes utilizing this same technology called The Glock 35 riflescope which offered variable magnification capabilities as well as advanced night vision capabilities making it perfect for hunting or target practice. The city of Homewood, Alabama is located in the Baldwin County seat of office. It was founded in 1868 as a small community on the east bank of Mobile Bay. The first settlers were German immigrants who arrived in 1851. In 1865, the area became known as "Homewood" because one of its founders, John H. Homewood, had homesteaded there. In 1886, the town was renamed after William McKinley, president of the United States. The population reached 507 in 1900 and peaked at 1,211 in 1940; however, it has since declined to less than 100 people today. The history of Homewood began with its location onMobile Bay. One early settler was John H.Homewood who homesteaded there in 1865 A group of freed slaves from Mobile came to Homewood and started a stores and services business called Gadsden House which soon grew into a successful commercial enterprise that employed many African Americans throughout Southeast Alabama during the late 1800s- early 20th century
Homewood was founded in 1881 by John and Fannie Homesteader. In 1890, it became a city. In 1916, the First World War caused many casualties in the town. The town was renamed Homewood during the war to honor those who died in service.
