Hartselle, Alabama is a town located in Mobile County, Alabama, United States. The population was 7,564 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Mobile County. The first settler in Hartselle was John Hargrave who arrived in 1801. His son, George Hargrave, also made a home here and died in 1814. In 1821-22 there were two sales of land Lots 1 and 2 on Third Street by James Sennett to Isaac Hartsell for £100 sterling each. This land became known as "Hargrave's Mill." In 1830 David Prentice bought lot 3 from John Hargrave for £200 and developed it into what is now the town square which he named "Prentice's Landing." In 1832 Elijah White purchased lot 4 from Prentice for $120 and built a house on it which still stands today. When the Union Pacific Railroad was extended through Mobile County in 1867 it included part of what is now Hartselle within its boundaries; this included much of present day Hartselle including Lot 5 on Third Street where David Prentice had built his house years before. The railroad company donated the piece of land to be used for a public school district that would include all of present day Mobile County as well as parts of Baldwin and Stroud counties; this school district would eventually become known as “The University System” after being chartered by the state Legislature in 1931 under then Govt.(Governor) Huey Long et al.. As part of The University System (later AKA Ala Community College System), many local colleges were established throughout ruralAlabama soon thereafter: Sewanee University (1934), Tuskegee A&M (1936), Jackson State Teachers College (1938), Bowie State Teachers College (1960). As one result many businesses have been brought into existence all around town over time bringing new life to downtown areas like Main Street & Second Avenue while others have faded away or been closed altogether such as Hargrave's Store which closed down back when Iwas Young Stores Incorporated moved out across Main from there in 1978 until they reopened up top some time ago with fresh paint job inside & an even newer exterior since then...Nowadays you can find many small businesses dotting every block or so these days doing better than larger ones did back when Town Square was brand new!

Hartselle is a small town in Montgomery County, Alabama, United States. The population was 3,564 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Birmingham–Hoover Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to arrive in Hartselle were slaves from Georgia who were brought over by their owner, John Hartselle Sr., during the early 1800s. Hartselle was originally a small community on the east side of Mobile Bay located between what are now downtownMobile and Springdale. In 1818, when Colonel James Robertson founded Mobile County, he chose Hartselle as its seat and developed it into a thriving small town. In 1836, General Andrew Jackson moved his headquarters from Jackson’s old home in Gadsden to Montgomery County and selected Hartselle as his new capital. As Jackson grew more popular in Alabama and throughout America, more settlers began moving toHartselle. The cotton industry became an important factor inHartselle’s growth and development; many of the early residents were mechanics or farmers who worked with cotton plantations. After Reconstruction following the American Civil War ended in 1865, many African Americans were Freedmen living in northern states such as Alabama were forced to move south for economic reasons or face punishment from white supremacists if they returned home. Many black families decided to stay behind and build homes near downtownHartselle which continued to grow until World War II when most of the town's buildings except for one courthouse burned down during Hurricane Hazel damage efforts (the building still stands). In 1954, portions of Montgomery County including parts of downtownHartselley Incorporated into city Limits which at that time had a population of just over 2,000 people but has since grown over 10 times reaching its current size with over 25% of its citizens being Hispanic descent making it one of only two cities within Alabama with this concentration The city limits currently include much of central business district along 4th Street South between University Avenue South and Vestavia Hills Boulevard as well as all but one block along Bullock Avenue between 11th Street South and 14th Street South while portions extend beyond that boundaries further north towards Auburn University The City Council consists Of 5 members elected at-large with 3 seats coming up for election each year plus 1 seat reserved for an Mayor Pro Tempore who serves no specific term but may be re-elected every year regardless so long as there are no vacancies on council In addition To these Council Members There Are 6 Ward Councillors Each representing 1/2 mile square territory covering parts or all of any individual ward
