There is no doubt that the history of target holders in Gulf Shores, Alabama goes back many years. It all started with a group of gentlemen who wanted to help improve shooting accuracy and productivity in their local area. They decided to start a club for themselves, and soon others followed suit. The first target holders club was formed on October 15th, 1907, at the old pool hall on State Street. This organization helped improve shooting conditions in Gulf Shores and other areas around town by providing targets and instructors. The original club members were: J.C. French (President), A.L. Hinson (Vice President), Wm Clements (Secretary), Geo Prentice (Treasurer). The first national meeting of American Gun Club was held in Gulf Shores on May 14th, 1916, and it was attended by representatives from several states including Alabama! The purpose of this meeting was to discuss ways to promote better gunning practices among friends within the club structure and also to plan future meetings or conventions for the organization. One of the earliest successful efforts undertaken by American Gun Club was its initiation into the National Shooting Association (NRA) on October 15th, 1916! NRA membership opened up new opportunities for shooters everywhere as it provided protection against unfair competition from individuals without NRA affiliation or experience! Gulf Shores is a town in Hardee County, Alabama, United States. The population was 2,500 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Mobile–Troy–Ardmore Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Gulf Shores was James Hargrave, who came to the area in 1836. He built a cabin on what is now Bayou Road. In 1839, John A. Richardson founded the town of Gulf Shores on land he had bought from Hargrave. He named it for his homeport of Glasgow, Scotland. Gulf Shores grew quickly and by 1847 had a store and log schoolhouse. A post office was established in 1848 and soon became an important center for trade between the region and Mobile and Pensacola (then Spanish Florida). By 1860, Gulf Shores had three churches, two stores, four cotton ginners, six blacksmiths, seven farmers, and 400 residents. In 1861, Confederate General Robert Ewell decided to move his army towards Mobile Bay to prevent Union forces from entering that city before winter began preparations for battle against Northern armies next year. Ewell's plan called for his army to march through hard-pressed Hardee County into Mobile Bay before stopping at bayou La Batre east of town to rest camp during the night; however, when they reached the bayou there were only few trees left standing after being downed by severe weather over several days prior In order to cover their retreat Ewell ordered his cavalry units led by Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer across open water from Fort Gibson onMobileBayto cross into Spanish territory near present day Pensacola Custer's unit lost its way after crossing through dense forest which made it difficult for them to find their way back acrosswindy Strait of Gibraltar; as a result they arrived too late at Fort Gibson where they were met with heavy fire from defenders who successfully defended themselves until relieved by Union troops under General Ulysses S Grant later that day As a result of this debacle Confederate forces were forced back upriver towards Monroe where they would eventually fall in April 1865

Today, Gulf Shores is an important commercial and cultural center for southeastern Alabama. Its economy is based largely on fishing, manufacturing, tourism, and agriculture.
