T-shirts have been a part of the Gulf Shores, Alabama community for as long as there have been firearms. The first t-shirt was made in 1899 by S.A.M.G.(Sale and Auctions Machinery) in Mobile, Alabama. T-shirts were a way to commemorate firearm purchases or events in the community. T-shirts became popular enough that they started being produced commercially in the early 1940s by outlets such as Gadsden Press Co., Inc. During World War II, many soldiers from Gulf Shores enlisted and served in the armed forces overseas; however, not all came home with souvenirs of their experiences including clothing items like t-shirts which commemorated their service. In 1946, Pacific Arms Manufacturing Company began producing what are now known as “Gulf Shores” rifles with walnut stocks and black finish (the rifle models IWP). These rifles were used by local law enforcement agencies across southeastern Alabama before becoming museum pieces after losing their military use during the 1960s and 1970s armament bans enacted by former President Lyndon B Johnson following the Watts Riots of Los Angeles. In 1990 Captain James Lomax presented an award to then Sheriff Rollie McGee at a banquet honoring law enforcement officers who had displayed exemplary service during Operation Neptune’s Spear which occurred on February 14th of that year off the coast of Kuwait City; specifically Commander Clarence Darrow III who was wearing a shirt bearing his nameplate reading “Gulf Shores Law Enforcement Officer of Honor Award” The popularity of T-shirts among those involved in law enforcement has continued into modern times with various organizations – most notably Law Enforcement Apparel Distributors Association (Leda) which produces and distributes both men’s/women’s collegiatepolice apparel as well as “mock police uniforms” for public exhibition purposes throughout southeast Alabama – hosting shirts contests each year at various trade shows attended by hundreds or even thousands oflaw enforcement professionals from all over America invariably exhibiting Coast Guard style hats while attending several days worth of exhibitions displaying surplus military hardware acquired during peacetime peacekeeping operations worldwide since 1978 when Menard County Sheriff Charles Warner purchased surplus M1 Garands chambered for hunting deer from United States Army Special Forces Command located at Fort Bragg North Carolina – having them remanufactured here at our hangar/manufacturing facility using stateoftheart technology utilizing premium cowhide twill fabric created especially for this purpose providing superior durability against wear & tear while also providing excellent breathability making these guns almost impossible to damageNote: Type 1 (not pictured) .44 Magnum revolvers manufactured here under license from Ruger Firearms
