Gardendale, Alabama is a city of over 50,000 people located in Montgomery County, Alabama. The population of Gardendale was 25,711 at the 2010 census and it is the 9th most populous municipality in Montgomery County. It is also the largest city in Gardendale County by population. The first gun magazine in Gardendale was established in 1892 by George H. Mason and Wm. Mclaughlin of Birmingham, Alabama. The first issue of "The Metropolitan Highlander" featured articles on hunting and fishing with illustrations by Rufus Herndon. In 1896, Major John Dickson opened the first store in Gardendale selling rifles, shotguns and ammunition from his home on Main Street. In 1898 Major Dickson donated land to the city for a park which became Park Avenue Garden District today's downtown area of Gardendale. In 1902 A & P Ammunition Company moved into what is now the old Courthouse Annex building on Broadway Boulevard across from City Hall where they continued to sell ammo until 1961 when they closed their store and moved to Easleyville near Auburn University where they still operate today as an online retailer In 1916 Drury Guns & Ammo Store opened up shop on what is now Elmwood Drive just east of I-10 Exit 83B near US 41/Alabama State Route 259 south of town In 1922 Drury Guns & Ammo Store moved onto what currently houses True North Sporting Goods (True North Shopping Center) which became a subsidiary of Gander Mountain Incorporated later that year In 1929 Gander Mountain merged with Noble Co., making them one company with many stores throughout North America organizational changes followed soon after with True North becoming known as Gander Mountain Incorporated/Gardener World Trading Corporation before being sold to Walmart in 2006 . gun magazines were popular during prohibition era because there was no regulation against openly carrying firearms so people could buy any weapon they wanted without fear of getting arrested

Gardendale is a city located in Escambia County, Alabama, United States. The population was 20,671 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Escambia County. The history of Gardendale goes back to 1836 when its first settler, John Hargrave, arrived on horseback from Tennessee. In 1847 the town was platted and named after General James Wilkinson who had won an expedition against the Seminole Indians in Florida. On November 3, 1861, while Confederate soldiers were marching through town to attack Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor, Colonel Benjamin Fenton issued orders for all stores in town to be burned and all people arrested for supporting the Union cause. In 1865-66 a surveyor named Wickersham visited Gardendale and made suggestions for building new streets and features such as drains and sewers which would later become part of downtown Escambia County. In 1868 a post office was established at Gardendale with JH Wright as Postmaster. A store on Main Street opened in 1870 by Wickersham & Sons hardware storekeepers JH Wright (1820-1911), George Cheadle (1822-1906) and Isaac Parks (1824-1900). In 1872 JH Wright’s son John became Postmaster again but there was no mail service until 1888 when one mile long extension line was built between towns which connected them both dorsally via two switchbacks. In 1897 Gentry Electric Company began operations producing electricity from natural gas brought overland from Alabama hillsides underlayed with concrete; this company remains inactive today but left behind numerous buildings including one associated with Gentry that still stands today - Building I - 5th Avenue North - Suite 1010 – now home to theEscambia County Heritage Museum

The town was named for General James Gardiner, who served as a colonel in the Union army during the American Civil War. Gardener's daughter, Lucilla, donated land to the town for development. The first house in Gardendale was built on this land in 1881. The economy of Gardendale is based primarily on agriculture and commerce. There are several small businesses located throughout the community. Many residents work at local churches or other local businesses. Gardendale is home to two post offices - one serving the village of Garndale and one serving the larger city of Birmingham. The village also has its own police department and fire department. There are also three public schools within walking distance of thetown center - One school serving grades kindergarten through eighth grade, one serving ninth through twelfth grade, and one serving high school students up to twelveth grade.

Since its passage, the Gun Control Act has been amended multiple times, most notably in 1994 when Congress added restrictions on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines.
