Over time, Foley’s population grew to around 1,000 residents and their businesses expanded into various agricultural products (e.g., coal, cotton), manufacturing goods (related to firearms), transportation (railroad ties), charitable donations (e.g., new churches or school buildings), and real estate development (e.g., numerous homes). In 1925, J M Foley died suddenly after a long battle with leukemia; his son JB took over the business leadership until he passed away in 1961 .JB’s successor John W Jones continued to run the company until his death in 1966 . After Jones’ death, control passed through three generations of brothers before it finally passed down toJT “JR” Ransom who currently operates the business.. In 1990, JR decided to change how they marketed their product line and began selling holsters direct from their facility rather than through distributors . This change helped preserve their traditional independent manufacturer status while also increasing sales . The first white person to live in Foley was John Pace, who arrived in 1818. Foley became a slaveholding community during the early 1800s. The area became free in December 1871 following the American Civil War. In 1865, General Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House in Virginia and slavery was abolished throughout America except among certain states within the Confederacy which continued to hold slaves until 1863 when all states joined the Union. In 1865, James Fenton (1815-1910) founded what would become Foley seed company with money he had saved from working on plantations in Mississippi and Georgia. He named his business after his father-in-law’s farm where he had been born near Mobile, Alabama: “Foley Seed Company” because one of his earliest memories wasof picking cotton with his father at that farmhouse on Demopolis Creek south of Mobile Bayou where they also raised chickens and pigs; later he moved to this plantation site east of Mobile while still growing up – now part of US 82 between Baldwin and Prairie View A&M Universities! From here James conducted crop rotation experiments with Booker T Washington so that black farmers could learn how best to grow food for their own families without having to sell their crops too soon or too late! This knowledge passed down through generations as well as being put into practice by white farmers along Red River Valley west of Mobile when my father started growing corn there back in the early ‘50s! Foley was originally known as "Draper" because it was one of several small towns that constituted Draper Township. On May 1, 1881, John Foley donated land to the township for the purpose of developing it into a town. The first settler in Foley was Mrs. Nancy Fenton who arrived with her husband James Fenton on October 11th, 1881. They built their home at 710 Main Street and named their daughter Alma after Mrs. Fenton's mothering skills which were much appreciated by locals and visitors alike during those early days when mail delivery service only came once a week! The post office called Foley "Draper" from its inception until 1895 when it changed its name to "Foley". Today, there are still few residents remaining in this small community which is easily reached via both state roads (Joe E. Brown Parkway) and I-565 (Montgomery Boulevard).
