Along with rifle and shotgun tournaments, target shoots became an important source of socializing for residents in early nineteenth century Florence. Today, Targetts remain one of the most popular activities enjoyed by residents in Florence. Events include competitive matches between different age groups as well as Girl Scout and Boy Scout meetings that feature target shooting opportunities for all members of both organizations.
