Florence's economy has been mostly agricultural since its founding and manufacturing has been limited to local products such as shoes and gasoline Tanks until recently when it has started to increase with the opening of new factories in area including Nissan Motors Manufacturing facility which opened in 2014 near downtown Florence and also Tyson Foods plant which currently produces chicken eggs throughout central Alabama
