The Fairfield Gun Case Company was founded in 1911 by W.J. Hargrave and C.L. Fenton. The company specialized in the manufacture of soft gun cases, first producing a line of plastic cases designed to be water-resistant and light enough to be carried on the person. In 1938, the company became known as The Fairfield Gun Cases Company, Incorporated. In 1952, Fairfield became part of the Goodwin Manufacturing Company and continued production of soft gun cases until its sale to Smith & Wesson in 1987.

Fairfield is a small town in Alabama. The population was 1,859 at the 2010 census. It is located in Tuscaloosa County. The first occupants of Fairfield were the Creek Indians who used the area as their hunting and fishing grounds before moving on to other settlements. In 1814, General Alexander McGillivray destroyed Fort McIntosh on the Mobile River after a siege by Indian forces. This event helped spur development in Fairfield as traders and settlers moved into the area looking for new opportunities. In 1827, Judge John Bledsoe donated land to establish a courthouse and jail in Fairfield which served as an important link between rural Alabama and Montgomery. The town grew rapidly from its initial population of only 100 residents to over 1,000 by 1830 thanks to increased trade with nearby Georgia and Tennessee. By 1850, Fairfield had become one of the most significant communities in Tuscaloosa County. In 1892, local businessman JT Gibson established what is now known as Gibson’s grocery store in Fairfield which became an important stop for locals on their way to work or shopping downtown Tuscaloosa. After years of growth and development,Fairfield was designated as an official city within Tuscaloosa County on July 15, 1962 following passage of legislation by then-Governor George Crain creating such municipalities statewide. On November 2nd of that year, voters approved Measure 5A (Uniform City Code) amending the City Charter to create a more centralized government for Fairfield with powers including zoning regulations, budgeting/allocation of resources, appointment of city officers and establishment of planning goals for future redevelopment within municipality boundaries

Fairfield is a small, unincorporated community in Marshall County, Alabama, United States. The post office was established in 1881, and remained in operation until it was eliminated in 1993. The community had a population of about 350 people as of the 2010 census. The name Fairfield comes from two early residents: James A. Fairchild and his wife Eliza Dickson Fairchild. James A. Fairchild's father had been born in Illinois and moved to Marshall County when he was just over one year old. After arriving in Marshall County, James A. Fairchild worked on a farm for several years before starting a business importing goods from Europe. In 1875, he married Eliza Dickson and began selling produce from his farm at 4th Street and Rogers Avenue near the present day town of Morehead City. By 1881, they had six children: Mary (1876-1964), Lillie (1878-1965), Johnnie (1880-1961), Addie (1882-1968), Nora (1884-1969) and Harry C(eorge) Fairfield Jr.(1887-1971). James A.'s son Harry C.'s involvement with the family business led him to enter politics after World War II when he became state senator from Gulfport et al., later serving as lieutenant governor under Huey Long before being elected Governor of Alabama in 1960. In 1971, he became the first African American to hold such an important statewide office when he was appointed UMB director general by President Richard Nixon; however, due to term limits setting into effect at that time, he never served out his full four year term which ended on January 3rd 1973 due to defeat by Don Siegelman in the Democratic primary election that fall; since then there has only been one African American gubernatorial appointee - Bates Evers - who has held that office for three terms during which time no other black person has served consecutive terms within any major political party during that time period! After leaving politics following his gubernatorial appointment, Mr. Fairfield resumed farming but soon diversified into real estate development throughout Mobile Bayou State Park including developing what is now downtown Mobile Beach with help from friends Sam Rayburn Sr., Willis Bryant & John Witherspoon among others while also becoming involved with many charities both local & national through his company 'People For The Future'
Fairfield was founded in 1824 by George Washington Fairfield and his wife Judith. The town was named after General James K. Polk, who helped lead the United States during the Mexican-American War. The population of Fairfield increased from 25 to 100 in only 10 years and by 1851, it had a school, post office, and two churches. In 1865, Fairfield became the seat of government for Alabama's newly formed county of Baldwin.
