Gun magazines have a long and varied history in Enterprise, Alabama. The first gun magazine in Enterprise was the National Pistol Association, which was founded in 1876. It was eventually purchased by the Enterprise Rifle Club and changed its name to the Enterprise Rifle and Pistol Club in 1906. From 1906-1960, the club published The Enterprise Rifle and Pistol Magazine, which is still considered one of the most important gun magazines in America today. In 1960, however, the club merged with another rifle club in Enterprise to form the Alabama Rifle & Shotgun Association (ARSA). ARSA continued publication of The Enterprise Rifle and Pistol Magazine until 1978. During this time period, it became an essential resource for shooters throughout Central Alabama. The first shotgun magazine in Enterprise was also founded during this time period. It was called The Gunsmiths Journal and published from 1905-1910. At some point between 1910-1920, it merged with The rifle & Shotgun Review to form The Gunsmiths Journal and Review Company (GJRC). GJRC continued publishing until 1986 when it merged with another rifle magazine company to form ARSA’s current publishing company - Archery World Publications - Incorporated. Archery World Publications has been publishing The Enterprise Rifle and Pistol Magazine since 1978.

The Enterprise, Alabama gun mags were started in the early 1800s. They first began to be published in 1851. The Enterprise was a weekly paper and it was published on the corner of Broadway and Market Street in downtown Enterprise.
Enterprise is a city in Alabama, United States. The population was 9,822 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Marshall County. The area now known as Enterprise was inhabited by the Seneca people from around 1800 to 1810. The first white settlers arrived in 1819 when John Anderson founded what would become Enterprise. A post office called "Andersonville" was established in 1824, and became part of Marshall County after that year. In 1830, Alexander Henderson laid out a town site called "Lake Donelson", which would eventually become Enterprise. In 1840, James Denny founded the Denny-Norman land company in what is now Marshall County and began selling cattle and other farm products from his newly developed enterprise - which he named "Denny's Land". The enterprise prospered until it was forced to close due to debt in 1861. In 1865, Confederate General Robert Ewells ordered all Union forces east of Mobile Bay to withdraw because of fears of an impending Confederate advance into Alabama; this led to the Battle of Vicksburg where Enterprise suffered heavily including over 100 fatalities. However, most businesses reopened shortly thereafter and continued operations even during Reconstruction though many locals sided with the Confederacy overall. In 1870, Enterprise incorporated as a municipality under the name "Erecto". The following year saw its first fire when a man set his home on fire while trying to get rid of an unwelcome trespasser; this event helpedestablish local firefighter traditions today. By 1880, there were more than 500 residents living in Enterprise with a variety of businesses operating within its boundaries including grocery stores/stores such as Sears & Roebuck (now Macy's), banks (First National Bank and PeoplesBank), lumberyards/logging camps/tanneries (James Hardie & Sons), shoe stores (Hudson Shoes Company) and physician services (Drury Medical Center). Today, however, they are an integral part of firearms culture and play an important role in the training process. Gun magazines offer readers a wealth of information on all things related to firearms, from how to select a weapon to how to maintain them. One of the earliest gun magazine publishers was The Arsenal Magazine Company Ltd., which was founded in 1875 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte. In 1916, The Armory Publications Company was founded by reloader and shotgun manufacturer George Norris along with his brother John Norris as a publisher focused exclusively on handgun ammunition and rifles. At its height in 1928, The Armory Publications Company published over 100 issues per week. However, during the Great Depression many printers closed their doors, leaving gun magazine publishing at a standstill. In 1935–36 Don Siegel started publication of Modern Rifle & Pistol Magazine (MRP), which became one of the most successful gun magazines in history due to its wide variety of topics covering both rifle ammunition and handguns. MRP continued operations until 1984 when it merged with other popular publications such as Guns & Ammo andhandgunmagazinehistory
In 1857, the first issue of gun magazine "Ranger" was published. This magazine was a compilation of articles about rifle and pistol shooting. The editor, George Rogers Clark, also wrote the first article on shotguns. In 1859, "Guns and Hunters" was published. This publication was a quarterly journal that reported on hunting and target shooting activities in the United States.
In 1785, Enterprise was founded by Captain John Wilkinson and his wife Rebecca. Wilkinson was a British officer who had been stationed in Mobile Bay at the time of its founding. He purchased 640 acres of land from the Mobile Indians, and built a small fort on it. In 1802, he became the first white man to settle in what is now Enterprise. In 1813, he married Rachelle Hodge, who arrived with him from England. The Wilkinson family ran an inn and grocery store until their death in 1847. After their deaths, their daughter Anna took over running the business until her death in 1902. Anna's husband Robert Crouse also operated the store until his death in 1916. The Enterprise area today is home to many businesses and residences including the Enterprise Place shopping center which opened in 1957 and replaced a former cotton gin/smelter complex that dates back to 1831. The old cotton gin building still stands as one of Enterprise's most notable landmarks today; it has been used as office space for numerous businesses over the years including Montgomery County government since 1978 when it was moved from its original location on Clearwater Road to its current site on Enterprise Boulevard. During World War II, much of Enterprise suffered damage due to bombings by Japanese forces during the war's Korean War period; however, all but two buildings were rebuilt after 1945 using federal funding through Project Independence which helped promote self-reliance among American citizens throughout Alabama Today, Enterprise continues to be an important community located within county limits with a population of about 60K residents according to 2010 census figures Many local businesses are still located within town boundaries although GPS mapping can finally pinpoint many businesses within minutes or even seconds thanks largely to internet based marketing practices such as Google EarthTM . She would continue performing throughout her career both nationally and internationally leading up eventually appearing opposite Marlon Brando in "/Oscar" (1974). -Although originally settled by English settlers only slightly more than 100 years ago - development around central enterprise has continued unabated making it one of oldest continuously inhabited communities west of Appalachians - growth rates have generally slowed over recent decades resulting in some older structures remaining abandoned while new construction dominates areas adjacent to downtown cores becoming increasingly lush with apartment towers housing million dollar homes unable or unwilling ever again venture out into thoseroots Regardless there are periodic efforts made by organizations such as 'Keep It Alive' campaign spearheaded by Mayor Ingram attempting unsuccessfully ever since 2009 past successes where demolition/ alteration fees paid for property restoration typically bringing back buildings almost intact or nearly so along side market rate apartments being erected near these central core neighborhoods turning formerly industrial areas into vibrant districts once more attractive destinations for young families seeking quality affordable housing – please see website link below ›
In 1818, the first cotton gin in Enterprise was built. The Enterprise Manufacturing Company was founded in 1827 and became the largest cotton producer in Alabama. In 1865, the Confederacy surrendered and white supremacy ended. Enterprise became an all-white town, perpetuating Jim Crow laws until desegregation began in the early 1960s.
