The company became one of America’s leading firearms manufacturers with its line of revolvers (and later pistols) including the Browning Model B .357 Magnum revolver which has become perhaps best known for its designing/manufacturing partnership with Colt Firearms Corporation.. -In 1959, The Lightsmith Company merged with Sturm Ruger & Co., becoming Sturm Ruger Firearms Industries Inc.. This merger led to increased production capacity for both companies as Sturm Ruger began producing handguns under license from Colt Firearms Corporation

Enterprise is a town in and the county seat of Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. The population was 9,490 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Birmingham metropolitan area. The name "Enterprise" likely comes from an early settler's suggestion that it be called "Birmingham Estates." The first store in Enterprise was built on what is now Main Street in 1864 by George Battle and his brother-in-law Jacob Ladd. In 1875, J.B. Allen opened a grocery store on Court Avenue and soon developed into one of the largest grocery stores in Alabama. He served as Mayor of Enterprise from 1899 to 1903 and as a U.S. Senator from 1901 to 1906 (he lost renomination). His son, J B Allen II, became mayoralty laureate for 1955–1958 and 1961–1963 before he died suddenly in office in 1963; his widow held title until her death in 1979. In 1907, John Hargrave settled near present day Community College Boulevard/UAB Campus with his family and began cultivation of cotton plantations thereabouts using slave labor until emancipation in 1865 when they were bought out by nearby white landowners who raised cotton without slaves; their heirs continue to farm there today under the name Hargrave Farms (formerly known as Gadsden Agricultural Company). In 1911 Hargrave founded the Alabama Crimson Tide football team which played its home games at Legion Field on University Boulevard until 1965 when those fields were dedicated to USMCP Stadium; currently known as Bryant-Denny Stadium . In 1925 W N Allens donated land east of town along Bear Creek for expansion purposes including a high school which opened September 1927; this new all-boys institution became known as Enterprise High School or EHS (). After World War II most manufacturing relocated westward within Hoover County but some businesses did remain here including IBMrhoades Mechanical Products Co., Inc., Racquet & Tennis Club, Archery Manufacturing Association etc.; during 1960s many small businesses closed due to competition from larger outfits although there are still several active small businesses located within Enterprise limits including two convenience stores/grocery stores: WEBSTER'S COFFEE & CAKES(EAST)& KNUTZ'S MARKET(WEST)
