In 1859, Enterprise, Alabama was a small town of about 400 residents. It had a post office and two school districts. The community developed around the Pemberton mine, which produced lead and silver ore. The mine closed in 1892. In 1898, Enterprise became an incorporated town with a population of about 950 people. Its oral history begins with the arrival of wagon trains from Illinois in the 1840s to prospect for gold near Mobile Bayou. To do so, these teams traveled through Enterprise on horseback or on mules because there were no roads in that area. The first guns used by men in this area were made from barrel-stock muskets that were modified by forging the ends off of cannon barrels (which was then called “battering ramming”). These cannons could fire shot up to 100 yards and could be used against Confederate troops as well as Native Americans who lived near the area. By 1862, rifle cartridges had become available and began being used instead of ball ammunition for these cannons and muskets. Rifle bullets also tended to travel further than ball rounds and caused less damage when hitting targets at long range. As firearms became more advanced over time, more barrels were made specifically for each type of ammunition that was being fired and eventually evolved into the modern shotgun barrel design today. Today, gun barrel history is still important in Enterprise due to its location within Alabama’s agricultural heartland – where farmers use shotguns for hunting deer, turkey, duck, squirrels and other game animals. Gun barrels are also essential for manufacturing shotguns – which are designed to shoot balls instead of rounds/bullets

The first guns in Enterprise were pistols. George Washington Carver, a white farmer, built the first gun shop on the east side of town in 1875. The shop continued to be run by Carver until it was closed in 1905. In 1907, Enterprise residents voted to make gun sales illegal and the shop reopened under new ownership as the Enterprise Gun Shop. In 1916, Enterprise became an incorporated municipality and the gun store changed its name to Enterprise Arms & Ammunition Company. In 1921, Enterprise Arms & Ammunition Company merged with The Arsenal Store and opened up into a larger store on Old US-501 near Woodward Avenue. At this point, enterprise had over 100 businesses including a bank and several grocery stores. On October 16th of that year, Patriot Act was passed which made it legal for citizens to carry firearms without permits. This caused an increase in business at the arms store as people began to feel less inhibited about carrying handguns around town. The store also became known for their innovative marketing campaigns such as "Guns for All Seasons." In 1945, enterprise merged with another arms company named Armoury Supply Co., Inc., which gave them their current name of Archery Unlimited Firearms Corporation (AULFC). AULFC is still one of the largest firearms retailers in Alabama today with over 2200 employees and 1300 locations across Alabama and Tennessee alone!
Enterprise is a town in seat of Lauderdale County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,578 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Birmingham metropolitan area. The townsite was laid out in 1872 by J.D. Glover and Wm Folsom as part of a larger development called "Birmingham." The name derives from an English word meaning "enterprise" or "prominence". The first store in Enterprise opened on Main Street in 1876. In 1907, the first post office was established here. In 1916, Enterprise became a city when it incorporated as a result of an act by the Alabama Legislature. On December 3rd, 1920 it united with nearby Hoover to form what would become known as the Birmingham-Hoover Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). Since then, Enterprise has experienced significant growth and transformation - becoming one of the most diverse and vibrant cities within Alabama's borders today! Today, Enterprise is home to over 60 businesses and organizations that contribute significantly to its economy - including several Fortune 500 companies! In addition to its economic vitality, downtown also offers residents easy access to many cultural attractions such as: The Mobile Arts Center; AT&T Park; and Five Points shopping district

The ship was used for transporting goods and people between Mobile and other parts of Alabama. In 1827, she became the first steamer to navigate through Mobile Bay when she chartered from British Admiral Lord Cochrane. The Enterprise also played a significant role in promoting trade between Alabama and Mississippi. The ship was later sold and scrapped in 1881.
Enterprise was founded in 1821 by Nathaniel Hawkins. The town grew quickly and by 1830, it had a population of over 100 people. In 1835, the town became the capital of Alabama.
