After World War II,BB gun production stopped due to the enactment of legislation that banned handguns with shots larger than .22 caliber (the size at which many BB guns are designed). However, some people continued to make and sell these older-style handguns until the late 1960s.
Dothan, Alabama is a city in Marshall County, Alabama, United States. The population was 17,651 at the 2010 census. Dothan is the county seat of Marshall County. It is part of the Birmingham metropolitan area. The first permanent settlers in what is now Dothan were planters and traders who arrived during the early 19th century to pursue cotton plantations in what would become central Alabama. The town was laid out as a small village on March 11, 1819 by lawyer and Whig politician James Lowndes and surveyor John Witherspoon for General Andrew Jackson when he became President of the United States that year. When Jackson moved from Tennessee to Montgomery in 1829, his personal physician Dr. David Tilton came to live in Dothan with his family. Doctor Tilton remain active until his death in 1909 and played an important role in developing early anesthesia techniques for surgery. In 1840–41, Dr. Thomas Hogue opened up a small sawmill here which became one of the leading mills in central Alabama; it continued operation until 1914. In 1847 (the same year as Mobile), Daniel Boone visited what would become Dothan while on his way southward along Mobile Bayou towards Muscle Shoals Lake; he named it after himself because there was no town or post office at that time within miles of where he stood – only isolated farms and swampy areas east of Mobile River partisanship had prevented development at that point! A few years later (1850), General Marmaduke Stephenson built a fortification here which served as Confederate headquarters during the Battle of Fort Donelson on April 12-13, 1862; this event helped spur economic development around this area resultant in increased construction activity including building numerous mills and other businesses throughout downtown Dothan over time though some declined due to lack of business opportunities outside their core markets etc.; completion of internal improvements such as a street system (now 2nd Street) by 1860 solidified downtown's status as an important commercial center for much of central Alabama especially given its location adjacent to several major transportation arteries: US 29/US 59/Alabama State Route 7 then just emerging from its developmental stages between these two large urban areas making it difficult for outsiders not associated with either region to miss out! During Reconstruction following Reconstruction Johnson's Emancipation Proclamation (January 1865 - January 1867), many African Americans were relocated across state lines so they could be Freedmen – one group settling near present day Phenix City, Ala., while others relocated north into what would become Chattanooga before being permanently resettled here during 1901-1915 officially becoming citizens called "Alabamians" although generally speaking most white residents refer to them simply as "Dothsans" today! The area that now makes up Dothan was first inhabited by hunter-gatherers who lived near present-day Montgomery and Jackson counties before migrating overland from central Alabama into what is now southern Mississippi around 10,000 years ago. French traders arrived in Mobile Bayous region between 1763-1765 and began trading with Native American tribes including the Choctaw and Chickasaw. In 1815 Major James Auld founded Fort Worth (now Huntsville) as a military base on Coosa River close to present day Talladega County while serving as Commandant of Confederate forces during the Civil War south of Tombigbee River; this led to development along Coosa River where Auld's fort stood until it was destroyed by Union troops in 1865 during the Battle at Gaines' Mill southwest of modern Dothan
