Center Point is a city in Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. The population was 5,191 at the 2010 census. Center Point is the only municipality in Jefferson County. The city was founded in 1892 as Centreville and moved to its present location in 1922. The first settlers of Center Point were three men from Tennessee: Jeptha Hargrave, James Auld and John Madsen. On February 14, 1892, Centreville was organized as a town by an act of the Alabama Legislature under the name of "Centerville". In 1922, when Auburn became a separate municipality withinJefferson County, Center Point became part of that new municipality. It is located on the Mobile River near its mouth on Russell Bayou.
