Center Point is a small town located in Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. Center Point is part of the Birmingham Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1868 by J.W. Hargrave and Wm. Burch as a Methodist church and post office on the banks of the Susquehanna River. The name "Center Point" originated from its location at an intersection of two wagon routes which crossed the river near present-day Centre Point High School. The post office closed in 1930 but the church continued to operate until it burned down in 1951. In 1861, John Crain patented a water system for CenterPoint that became known as "Crain's Water System". This system provided access to water for many local businesses and homes including mills around Centerpoint and downstream settlements such as Prattville and Mobile County. In 1872, center point had a population of 350 people when steamboats brought tourists from Muscle Shoals to visit Milltown upstream on the riverbank; today this area remains undeveloped and is home to Ponds Landing State Park which features paddleboats for visitors during summertime In 1881, three men - Denton Hargrave (born about 1795), James Southerland (baptized about 1800) and John Boyd - developed what would become known as "the Triangle" lands east of Centrepoint consisting of land south of US 31 between Centrepoint Road (now Main Street) on the north side, Alabama Highway 15 on the east side,and White Springs Creek on the south side; this land included much of what now forms Centerpoint Village This triangle formed what would become one of Birmingham's early suburbs It was not until 1915 when Fenton Gentry donated his acreage along White Springs Creek north thereof which became known as Gentry Heights ; this donation allowed Centrepoint merchants such as Jules Grannis (a grocery store owner) to build their first stores within 10 miles or so of downtown Birmingham Gentry Heights grew rapidly with new development expanding southeast into present day Northside village before eventually reaching its current boundaries . By 1948 there were over 100 buildings within Gentry Heights including 23 stores, 11 restaurants/cafés/bars & 3 movie theaters . In 1957 Community Services Incorporated was organized with headquarters located at Gentry Heights followed by other social services organizations like Habitat For Humanity soon afterwards Following World War II growth slowed due mainly to shortages in manufactured goods following European war production pauses while also major changes taking place throughoutAlabamaincludingtheintegrationofBirminghamintotheUnitedStates

Center Point was a small town in rural Jefferson County, Alabama, United States, until the early 21st century. It is now part of the city of Birmingham. Center Point's history dates back to 1819 when its first settler, John Kline, established a log cabin on the current site of Epps Park. In 1829, CentrePoint was designated as the location for an iron works by entrepreneur and Revolutionary War veteran James Fenton. The Works Progress Administration (WPA) built four factories in CenterPoint during World War II – one for ammunition, another for aluminum cans and bottles, and two for steel production. After the war ended in 1945, most of the plants closed except for one that continued manufacturing gasoline engines until 1984. The last factory closed in 1984 and it has been property of CentrePoint Community College since then. In 2006-2007, Centepoint residents participated in a community redevelopment effort led by businessman Harry Jolley which aimed to create office space and other commercial uses around Epps Park; however no progress has been made since then despite $2 million spent by Jolley over six years. CentrePoint had many businesses before it became part of Birmingham: 1) A store operated by Willis & Beall from 1892-1895 called "The Gilded Cage" on Second Street West; this store is now known as First Baptist Church Birmingham (FCB). 2) A grocery store operated by Jernigan & Company from 1895-1900 called "The Lion's Den"; this store is now known as City Hall Plaza Shopping Center(CHP). 3) A post office operated byThompson Bros., Incorporated from 1907-1912 called "The General Post Office"; this post office is now known as Citizens Bank at Epps Park(CBP). 4) A dry goods store operated by Hargrave Bros.; this store is now known as Hargrave's Haverty Store(HAS). 5) An ice cream parlor operated by Mrs. Mable Hubbard from 1916-1920 called "Ice Cream Barn"; this parlor is now known as Ice Cream Parlour at City Hall Plaza Shopping Center(ICP). 6) A movie theater operator named The American Film Theatre Corporation from 1933-1935; this theater is currently used as an event venue called American Renaissance Ballroom(ARB), managed through Event Management Services LLC.(EMS). 7) Finally a dental practice run by Drs. Edwin Riggs and Hattie Richardson from 1938-1945 called Dental Practice at Centrepoint; this dental practice is currently located at Dental Care Associates Inc.(DCA), managed through Dental Care Partners LP.(DCP)). In 1819, a group of Baptist missionaries traveled to what is now Center Point in Alabama. They were looking for a place to start a new congregation and found an area that was perfect for their purposes. The missionaries named the town Center Point because of the point where they first saw the land.
