In 1924, American Tobacco Corporation began manufacturing cigarettes in Center Point with theirbrand name "Cigarette Machine Gun". This company produced millions of cigarettes and cigars using various methods including hand-rolled milling machines and Continuous Roll Machines which created perfect Cigarettes every time without any waste
Center Point is a town in Clarke County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,567 at the 2010 census. Center Point is located on the eastern edge of the Birmingham metropolitan area. The first settler in Center Point was James Cranch in 1824. In 1852, Isaiah Pepper purchased 2,000 acres (0.8 km²) of land east of CenterPoint from John Pugh and donated it to the Methodist Episcopal Church for use as a mission station. The main building that stands today was built in 1882-1883 by Revd Dr. Jephson Higginson and dedicated on November 22nd that year with services by Bishop Jethro Gibbs Jr.. In 1907, Center Point acquired its current name when A&P grocery store owner Julius Kuhn created a new business district along Main Street which became known as "Kuhn's Corner." The Kuhn's Corner shopping district included many local businesses such as the First Baptist Church (founded in 1890), Lumber yard (opened in 1903), and Hardware store (founded in 1909). The population growth Rate during the 1970s was much greater than other areas withinClarke County because of MSA oil production expanding beyond just downtown Mobile to rural areas around CentrePoint providing jobs opportunities for people who could not otherwise find work. This also led to an increase in housing prices throughout CentrePoint becoming more affordable than other parts of town making it more difficult for lower income residents to maintain their homes despite expectations by some developers that this would be their only opportunity to purchase property outside of downtown Mobile.

The population of Center Point was 1,987 at the 2000 census. The town of Centrepoint was home to many famous people including Nicholas Brown, who founded it in 1859; Congressman Thaddeus Stevens (R-Ala.), who served from 1912 until his death in 1916; and Prime Minister John F. Kennedy (D-Massachusetts), who visited Centrepoint on two occasions during his presidential campaign in 1960 and 1968. In addition to itsfamous citizens, Centrepoint also attracted a large number of tourists over the years because of its beautiful river views and historical significance. The area that is now southeastern Alabama was first settled by Native Americans in what is now Muskogee County. In 1796, a group of British colonists led by Major James Wilkinson came toAlabama to purchase land from the Cherokee people. In 1819, when new U.S. territory was formed from parts of Florida and Georgia following their war with Mexico, part of this new territory included what is now southeastern Alabama. In 1821, General Andrew Jackson became president of United States after being elected as a member of the Electoral College over opponent John Quincy Adams. As president, Jacksonpromoted expansionism in America and ordered military actions in Central America which resulted in more than 1 million civilian casualties including at least 100 dead Indians. This aggressive foreign policy later caused lasting damage to American relationships with other countries and increased tension within his own country as well as abroad. Jackson's successor as president (Ulysses S Grant) made it an priority to end Reconstruction which followed Reconstruction policies established during Reconstruction era in America designed to right wrongs suffered during previous period of civil rights unrest known as The Great Migration begun by American expatriates seeking opportunity in post-war Europe who had brought prejudices with them back into America
