Center Point is an unincorporated community in Baldwin County, Alabama, United States. The population was 827 at the 2010 census. It is located on the southern edge of the city of Huntsville. Center Point is named after center point on a map drawn by Captain John Smith in 1714. The first people to live in Center Point were farmers and their families who came from nearby Chattanooga. In 1878, a post office was established at Center Point and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1909. A store and restaurant were built near the intersection of Centre Road and US 231 in 1925, but they closed within a year due to heavy competition from larger stores around town. In 1957, the community erected a "C" shaped schoolhouse which served as the local high school for many years until it was replaced by Central High School (now Central Institute) in 2003. In 2006, CenterPoint began offering its own academy program that offers pre-kindergarten through 12th grade education with locally sourced curriculum and instruction from accredited teachers. As of 2018, there are no active businesses or residential property associated with Center Point other than a few small businesses that have been existing for decades or longer such as Centerville Baptist Church which continues to serve as the unofficial center point landmark; General Store; Mrs Kapp's Bakery which reopened after being closed for several years due to damage sustained during Hurricane Katrina; and Carter Hardware across town serving as what may beAlabama's only hardware store still open today despite having been abandoned by its original owners over 60 years ago

Center Point is a small town located in Jefferson County, Alabama. It was founded by General John C. Breckinridge in 1836 as a missionary outpost on the Mobile River. Breckinridge named the town after his center of operations, Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, which he had established in 1835. Center Point grew steadily during the antebellum period, and by 1860 it had a population of 1,500 people. The town's prosperity came to an end following the Civil War; Center Point was never completely reconstructed and its residents largely abandoned it during Reconstruction. In the 1920s, Center Point experienced another period of growth and development; during this time it became one of the most important commercial centers in southern Alabama. During World War II, CenterPoint played an important role as a military supply depot for the US Armed Forces; its facilities were used to store food and munitions until 1945. Since CentrePoint's decline from historical significance, its citizens have unsuccessfully tried to revive its economy through various community-based initiatives such as tourism or agricultural production.
The town of Center Point was founded in 1817 by General Andrew Jackson. The town was named for the point where the rivers Alabama and Tombigbee join. The post office was established in 1821, and the first store opened in 1830. In 1837, Center Point became a county seat. It lost its status as a county seat after it was annexed by Montgomery in 1907.
