In 1924, the post office at CentrePoint became an internet mail service called eMails which continues today as US Mail online (www.usmailonline.com). This gave birth to what is now known as "the centre point phenomenon" where people from all over come together to visit this small but unique community during tourist season; mostly during May through September because of its many attractions including its Festival of Arts which takes place each year in late April or early May near downtown Centerpoint with street closures turning into weekslong events that include live music, arts & crafts demonstrations, food vendors and more! Today there are still many businesses operating out of old flour mills dating back to World War II that have been restored and converted into restaurants/bars/cafés etc., making CenterPoint a very vibrant community with something for everyone! Center Point is a town located in Limestone County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,415 at the 2010 census. Center Point is part of the Birmingham-Hoover Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Center Point were Methodist missionaries who arrived in 1818. They named the town after their headquarters on Third Street in Mobile, Alabama. The town had a post office from 1825 to 1849 and again from 1871 to 1879. In 1865, Union General Robert Ewell established himself at Centrepoint while marching his army through Alabama to ultimate victory over Confederate General Jubal Early's forces at Gettysburg. After Ewell's death, his men buried him near the town square and erected a granite marker that reads "Robert Ewell: Last of the Kings of Battlefield". In 1925, CenterPoint became one of fourteen towns consolidated into what was then known as Hoover-Limestone County. On July 1, 1929 CentrePoint's incorporation as a city was approved by the Limestone County Board of Commissioners. On December 10th 1950 Mayor John Ladd presided over the dedication of Centrepoint's new City Hall which replaced an old structure on Commerce Street that had served as both municipal government and county courthouse since before it was destroyed by fire in 1922. On the edge of Center Point, in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama is a popular tourist spot known as "The Promised Land." This area was first reserved for white people by the Creek Nation and was then given to the Alaquiddick family. They were forced to leave their land after being accused of witchcraft.
