Center Point is located on the Trussville-to-Montgomery line. The town was founded in 1892 by W. H. Burch and his wife, Fannie Burch, on land that they purchased from John Capps and others. In 1907, Center Point became one of five municipalities within the new city of Birmingham when that area was formed from parts of two previous towns: Montrose and Centrepoint (now known as Hoover). The original downtown core of Center Point dates back to 1892 when W. H. Burch and his wife Fannie bought a lot on which they built their home known as "The Manor". The first post office opened in 1896 with Wanda Coulter as the first postmaster and later Mrs. Aulds as second Postmaster until her death in 1912; both women are buried there along with other pioneer citizens including Jno Ewing who settled near what is now Morningside Drive adjacent to today's old hospital complex (the Parkwood Health System) during that time frame; Phebe Best whose community center still stands across from Central Avenue off US 41 just east of I-65&Shore Rd.; Drury Ellison donated $5,000 for a white schoolhouse; Lula Mae Hardwick donated land for a church also named after her daughter mary hardwick Community School District No 3 has been open since September 1st 1978 – today’s First Baptist Church - property gifted by Mrs Hardwick to help support our students through their education here at Center Point Elementary & Middle School! Center Point was a small community in Stephens County, Alabama, United States, located on the shore of Mobile Bay. The post office at Center Point was established in 1876. The community first developed along theshore of Mobile Bay and became known for its oyster beds. In 1909, Center Point was renamed Hiram Key after Hiram K. Lewis, an American businessman and entrepreneur who had been interested in developing the area. In 1921, CenterPoint merged with other nearby communities to form a new town called Hiram Key-Centerville. In 1930, Centerville was renamed Center Point again after being reincorporated as a city under the name of Alabama City. In 1984, CentrePoint merged with neighboring town of Spanish Fort to form another city called Spanish Fort-Centerville. The merger did not result in any significant changes to CENTERPOINT's demographics or infrastructure; however it did create several new businesses and restaurants within CENTERPOINT's boundaries which continue today as part of Spanish Fort's economy.
