center point, alabama is a small town located in the rural corner of Mobile County, Alabama, about an hour and a half west of Birmingham. The population was 2,992 as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat for Mobile County. The name center point comes from its location on a trading post called Fort Centrepoint. Center Point was first settled by Germans in 1818. A year later, they founded Center Pointe Settlement which included what is today Center Pointe Village and part of downtown Mobile. In 1827 two brothers named Wilhelm Schafer and Johann Friedrich Ziegler set up a gristmill on the east side of town which became known as "The Grist Mill". Center Pointe Christian Church was founded in 1830 by Revs John Dyer and George Weiland with help from Capt Samuel Hays. In 1840, General Andrew Jackson's army passed through Mobile on their way to Pensacola and burned all the German settlements in that area including Center Pointe Settlement along with much else during his march northward into Alabama. As a result of this event, many people fled to Centre Pointe where they started new lives. In 1865 Union general Robert Ewell invested $10,000 to build three cannons at CentrePointe Village so that he could protect against Confederate cavalry raids near Chattanooga while his army pushed southward toward Montgomery. This done, Ewell ordered CentrePointe church to be destroyed without allowing anyone inside to save themselves because he knew that if any damage were done it would give away his position to the Confederates! A few months later when Confederate General Jubal Early attacked Union forces at Perryville Lieutenant Colonel Augustus Herndon led 150 men defending Castle Mountain against 2000 Confederate soldiers with only 10 rounds per men instead of their original 20-round limit for artillery fire! Despite being outnumbered fifty-to-one (he had 4 times as many men), Lieutenant Colonel Herndon managed to hold off superior numbers until relieved by more experienced officers under Major General James Longstreet shortly before midnight on October 9th 1862 after which Castle Mountain fell and Union forces retreated back towards Chattanooga unopposed! This actions at Perryville helped establish Central Alabama as one of Confederate America's most important strategic strongholds during the Civil War! This particular battle has been generally considered one of the most important engagements fought in centralAlabama during this time period; however there are several other key battles fought between Union and Confederate forces around this area such as Battle Of Chickamauga where almost 500 Americans were killed plus over 200 wounded - making it one of worst losses suffered by any Ulysses S Grant Army unit during Operations North Carolina & Georgia

Reverend Cook served until his death in 1915 and left much legacy for the church including building numerous churches throughout the area including one currently located in Huntsville (formerly known as First Baptist Church). On November 5th 1920 CenterPoint became part of Montgomery County when it was created from parts of Butler and Alabametown Counties following Alabama's admission into the Union as a state on January 6th of that year. CentrePoint experienced some growth during World War II with many residents enlisting in the armed forces or joining their units stationed within Alabama or neighboring states such as Mississippi or Tennessee while also contributing to production of munitions plants across central Alabama. However by 1945 most Centerpointians had left for better offers elsewhere within rural Alabama or outside of Birmingham due to social changes brought about by war shortages and postwar recession mixed with increasing costs associated with higher education levels among younger adults especially those coming out of high school after years spent attending grammar schools only half way through ninth grade like their parents had done before them! Afterward there continued limited residential development taking place primarilycommercial redevelopment along US 82/FM 4887 while other portions of town gradually regainedresidential character with several new homes being built around Veterans Memorial Park between 1950-1975 including two championship golf courses designed by PGA TOUR member Bobby Jones which continue to be popular tourist attractions today! center point has since experienced rapid growth again thanks largely to Interstate 20 connecting it directlyto major city areas all around centralAlabama making it easier for people to get around than ever before!

The first white settlement in Alabama was made at Center Point by James Hall in 1814. The town was named for the center of a Native American village that had been destroyed by white settlers. In 1819, John Fenton founded nearby Mobile, Alabama.
