Center Point is a small town in Bibb County, Alabama, United States. The population was 2,651 at the 2010 census. Center Point is located on the western edge of the Sheffield Plateau and overlooks Mobile Bay. The first settlement in what is now Centre Point was made by members of the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1819. The town was named for Centerville (now Birmingham) in Ohio. The first store was built in 1825 by James H. Ketchum and his brother-in-law, John Auldridge. In 1830, center point became a stop on the Nashville and Chattanooga Railroad. In 1833, Jeptha Fenton erected a log cabin near present day Centre Point to serve as a post office and hotel. By 1840, Centre Point had a sawmill, grist mill, blacksmith shop, wagon wheel factory and two other stores. In 1849–1850 Wm Treadwell built an adobe courthouse which still stands today on Main Street east of Centerpoint Baptist Church (later renamed First Baptist Church). During this time also settlers began to arrive from Tennessee and Kentucky to claim land surrounding Mobile Bay for themselves.(1) In 1861 Union General William Tecumseh Sherman's army marched through Bibb County looking for Confederate General Robert Ewell's headquarters at Talladega Mountain (). Sherman discovered that Ewell had relocated to nearby Johns Creek () during the battle but decided not to pursue him because he thought he would be able to find him there easier than through Bibb County.(2) After leaving CenterPoint without taking any prisoners or spoiling any supplies (), Sherman arrived at Talladega Mountain about 10 miles away on December 12th (). Aftermath of that battle revealed that much of from Abrams' Hill down to Johnston's Bridge were destroyed or captured by Confederates including most of Centrepoint where over 50 homes were burned.(3) Despite all this damage done during Union Army's march through Bibb County (),Centrepoint continued functions as an agricultural village with someLogging operations going on until 1865 when it became part ofMobile county after that state seceded from Alabama

This invention allowed people to shoot targets without having to worry about being affected by the recoil of the firearm. However, it wasn’t until 1811 that an American named John Wilkinson developed an airgun that he called the “ Wilkinson Rifle .” This rifle was able to fire pellets from a gun barrel at up to 100 yards (91 meters). The Wilkinson Rifle was so successful that it led to the development of other types of airguns such as pistols and shotguns. Since firearms didn’t exist prior to 1811, many people believed that there must have been some sort of reason why different individuals were able to create such advanced firearms. However, modern research has revealed that this is not actually true – toys and devices based on early firearms designs did indeed exist prior to 1811. In fact, one example is the revolver known as the Poor man’s Pistol which was invented in 1694 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte
The first airguns were created in 1871. They were called “pneumatic pistols” and used177 caliber rounds. The first true airguns appeared in the early 1900s. These guns used gas-operated devices to shoot pellets through a tube that was inserted into the barrel of the gun.
Center Point, Alabama was founded in 1819 by Andrew Jackson as a location for a military post. The town grew rapidly and soon became known for its cotton plantations and nearby lakes. In the 1830s, Center Point became a center of black slave trade in the Southeast. The town eventually disbanded after the American Civil War and most of its residents moved to other locations. The town is now a ghost town located within the city limits of Mobile, Alabama. The only remaining buildings are two churches that were built in the early 1800s and are now used as historical museums.
In 1819, a group of white men led by Captain John F. Kennedy founded what is now Center Point in the town of Tuscaloosa. The town was named for the point where the River Tuscaloosa meets the White Flint River. The site was chosen because it afforded good hunting and fishing opportunities and had plenty of wood to fuelboats. In 1832, the first courthouse was built in Center Point. The courthouse was destroyed by a fire in 1865, but a new one was erected in 1868. In 1870, Centre Point became an incorporated town with a government consisting of a Mayor and three Aldermen. On December 3, 1935, Center Point became part of the newly created city of Tuscaloosa.
