In Auburn, Alabama, holster history began with the creation of the first holster in 1876. The leather-bound Colt Model 1860 revolver holster was designed by Captain George A. Smith and patented on July 15, 1876. The holster became known as the "Auburn Gun Holster". The first handguns to be carried in Auburn were firearms purchased from John Purdy of San Francisco. In 1892, General Samuel J. Pickett ordered a new handgun schedule to be created for Auburn that included over fifty different handguns being manufactured in the city including Colts, Mausers, and revolvers. These pistols were all worn inside waistbands with holsters made specifically for each firearm type. By 1901 there had been enough progress made to warrant a fund-raising campaign for an addition to the City Hall which would later become the Police Department Headquarters Building. The money raised was used to purchase an armory capable of holding thirty four rifles and shotguns while also providing storage for pistols and other weapons. This building is now known as Armory Park and is located at 410 S Beale Street in downtown Auburn

PAC produced holsters until 1984 when they were combined with Colt Firearms Corp., Inc., to form Colt Firearms LLC (CFL).
Auburn, Alabama is a small town in the US state of Alabama. The population was 9,693 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Butts County. Auburn has been nicknamed "The City of Black Diamonds" for its gemstones and minerals. The city's nickname comes from the abundance of diamonds that can be found in the area. Auburn was founded by Menahemis Abrams in 1819 as a cattle ranch on land that now includes much of downtown Auburn and parts of Canfield and Sherwood townships. In 1835, John Coker purchased land east of present-day downtown Auburn from Abram's heirs, naming it Coker Ranch after him. The original village located near center square began to grow up around this new development and then known as "Cokerville". In 1864, Coker sold part or all his holdings to John Moseley which led to growth around Moseley Park which became known as "Moses Park". In 1898, ALCOA merged withAlabama Coal Company forming what is now called Alabama Power Company (APCO). This merger allowed APCO to expand its operations into other industries including aluminum smelting and manufacturing refrigerators during World War II. During World War II, many citizens volunteered their services with local companies such as Boeing Airplanes & Motors Inc., Lockheed Aircraft Co., United States Rubber Board (USRB), Moore Motor Vehicles Ltd., Dow Chemical Co., Bechtel Corporation subsidiaries PPG Industries Incorporated (PBI) and American Can Manufacturing company (ACM). These businesses were involved in war production along with General Motors Corp.; Pratt & Whitney Engine Division; Bethlehem Steel Corporation; Weyerhaeuser AG; Grumman Electric Boat Company; Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company; Honeywell International Incorporated.; United States Rubber Board successor United States Rubber Workshops Trust Company Limited Partnership
