The history of ammunition in Auburn, Alabama goes back to the early 1800s. The area that is now Auburn was first settled by Native Americans and it was not until after the Revolutionary War that white people started to arrive in larger numbers. One of the first white arrivals in what is today Auburn was James Robertson, who founded a trading post on the Chilton River in 1784. Over time, other settlers arrived and various rifles were developed here. In 1814, General George Biddle built Fort McAllister on an existing mound near present-day downtown Auburn. This fort served as a base for operations during the Indian Wars and helped control much of southwestern Alabama. In 1818, Colonel John Cushing established a military post at Harney Heights near modern-day Vestavia Hills. This post was used to supply troops fighting against Native American forces occupying Mobile Bayou (now Monroe County) from 1818-1821. In 1830, Colonel Andrew Jackson moved his headquarters from Huntsville to Auburn and began construction of Fort Harrison. The fort served as a strategic location for Jackson during his campaigns against Native Americans in this part of Alabama. In 1854, Congress passed an act entitled “An Act To Regulate Trade With Foreign Nations” which saw the beginning of what would become known as Ammunition Regulation Acts throughout America. These acts regulated how much ammunition could be sold within each state and allowed government officials to inspect ammo products before they were sold to citizens or businesses. Soon after, companies such as Remington Arms Company began producing their own rounds for sale within America proper and beyond – making this region one of the most important in terms of rifle manufacturing during those times! Auburn also played a significant role during World War II – both through its production capabilities within National Guard armories and through its role as a key United States airbase located near Birmingham (now Tuscaloosa). From 1942-1944, National Guardsman from across America assembled at Camp Wheeler in southeast Auburn for training purposes under Lieutenant General Curtis LeMay Jr.. During these years, many famous pilots/aircrews trained at Camp Wheeler including Jimmy Doolittle and Chuck Yeager! The war ended with victory for Japan on September 2nd 1945 and all personnel gathered at Camp Wheeler were discharged on October 16th 1945 – marking an end to hostilities in Southeast Asia! However, many aspects associated with wartime life remain Throughout today’s community including military museums located inside both Fort Harrison Park & Municipal Stadium!

In 1961, Auburn merged with neighboring Tuscaloosa to form a larger city with a population of over 200,000 people.
