In addition to economic growth there have been numerous physical changes as well; since 2010, much of downtown has been renovated including new streetscape design and renovation of many buildings that remain standing today including churches as well as some high-end commercial enterprises such as Lowe’s Home Hardware chain store which relocated from nearby Tuscaloosa after leaving their original location near Birmingham in 1965 because they could not find enough space in Montgomery County for their large warehouse operations

Atmore, Alabama is a town in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, United States. The population was 596 at the 2010 census. Atmore was founded in 1881 as a post office by Colonel John P. Atmore. It was named after Atmore, who had served as a U.S. Congressman from Alabama from 1879 until his death in 1889. The first school in Atmore was built on the site of what is now the Senior Center and Business Park on December 21, 1881. Mrs. Lizzie Forney operated the school for several years before it closed due to lack of students and money; however, an effort to reopen it started in 1909 failed when some local businessmen refused to help finance the project again because they did not believe that African Americans could learn effectively in white schools). In 1912 A&P grocery store opened along with a Blacksmith Shop and two stores for black citizens: Shepheard's Hardware Store and First National Bank (now Citizens Bank). This Merchant-Ivory building still stands today and is used as the offices of various businesses including Time Warner CableAlabama LLC among others; while another building known as "The Prominence" served as an armory from 1925 until its demolition in 2006 according to historical documents filed with Tuscaloosa County government entities during that time period .
