During the 1930s, World War II led to a dramatic increase inAnniston's population. Its importance as a manufacturing town declined during the war years but revived after 1945 when much of Alabama became involved in military production. Afterward,Anniston experienced rapid growth as a bedroom community for Birmingham; however, recent trends suggest that it may be facing declines in population again because of increasing urbanization around it
