Gun sights have been a part of most humans since they got their first bows and arrows. It wasn’t until the late 1800s that people started making sights specifically for handguns. In 1892, Jesse Barnes patented a sight-in-frame handgun design that allowed for more accuracies with pistols than had ever been possible before. Anniston is a city in Birmingham County, Alabama, United States. The population was 25,853 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Birmingham County and home to the Anniston Army Depot. The area now comprising Anniston was first settled by Native Americans in the region that would become Mobile Bayou during pre-colonial times. In 1819, General Andrew Jackson moved his army from Nashville to drive out the Creek Nation and start a military campaign against Indian resistance. As part of this campaign, Jackson's troops burned down much of Mobile Bayou as they advanced through what is now Anniston. The town was founded on December 12, 1827 by James Hogg and other settlers from Tennessee who were seeking transportation to Mobile for supplies during their war with Mexico. The first post office in town was established on February 14, 1830; it was called "Hogg's Station". By 1835, Johnnie Cochran had built a cotton gin and began manufacturing goods for local merchants at what is now known as "Cochran's Mill". In 1839, citizens of nearby Decatur formed an association called the Decatur & Anniston Railroad Company to build a railroad between Decatur and Anniston; construction began in 1840 and opened in May of that year. The railroad helped spur economic development around both towns until it came to an end in 1861 when Confederate forces captured Anniston and took all its employees with them. In 1865, following Reconstruction efforts led by President Abraham Lincoln, the state of Alabama created a new district within Birmingham County which included all of present-day Birmingham except for parts of downtown which became part of downtown Montgomery while similar portions eastward into Auburn were annexed into that city also. This change gave birth to what is today known as Downtown Birmingham (formerly known as Eastside) while most surrounding neighborhoods including Annistons remaining largely rural remained unincorporated until 1965 when they too became part of Downtown Montgomery under then- Mayor George Wallace’s administration after he won election as Governor OF Alabama

Sniper rifles still require Iron Sights but now these snipers use electronic ranging systems to determine how far away their target is so they can shoot accurately without having to look down the barrel
The first modern firearms sights were developed in the late 18th century by a group of British gunmakers under the name of The Jesus Rifle Company. Their invention, the Jesse James Rifle Sight, consisted of a pair of circles set into the barrel and designed to guide bullets round an obstruction on the target. This sight was used on early rifles such as the Barbary Coast Cutlass and King George's Own Rifles.
Anniston, Alabama is a small town located in the heart of the United States. The community was founded in 1819 by Scots-Irish immigrants and has been home to many businesses and families since that time. Anniston's history can be traced back to when it was part of the Cherokee Nation. In 1819, Creekskins and Cherokees living in present-day Alabama were forced out of their homes due to Indian Removal. These settlers moved into what is now Anniston, creating one of the earliest communities in Alabama. The town's name comes from an incident which took place there on November 11, 1819. A group of Native Americans were asked to leave because they had property in Tennessee that belonged to General Andrew Jackson. When the Indians refused to leave their land, local farmers fought them off until federal troops arrived on scene. Aftermath, most of the natives who remained in Anniston fled or were expelled from the area. The town quickly became known for its whiskey production which helped make it a popular spot for settlement during this period. By 1840, Anniston had developed into a large agricultural center with several distilleries and a population numbering over 1,500 people according to census records. The post office was established here in 1841 and soon become one of the most important institutions within the community. Over time,Anniston transitioned from an agricultural center into a regional manufacturing center thanks to its abundant resources such as coal and oil
Anniston was founded in 1821 by General James Wilkinson and his wife, Sarah. The first post office in Anniston was established in 1824. It was renamed Anniston in 1854 after its founder, General James Wilkinson. The city's population reached 100,000 by 1870. By the early 20th century, the town had become a major railroad center with several lines reaching out to it from nearby Birmingham and Mobile. In 1932, Anniston became a city when it annexed the neighboring town of Decatur.
