In 1961, the Alexander City Rifle & Shotgun Manufacturing Company was acquired by Remington Arms Corporation. At Remington Arms Corporation, the Alexander City Rifle & Shotgun Manufacturing Company continued to produce handguns and rifles under its own name until 1984 when it was discontinued.

Alexander City is located in Baldwin County, Alabama, and was founded by Alexander McGill on December 2, 1820. The town was named after General James Alexander McGill who fought in the Mexican-American War. In 1847, the town population reached 1,500 people and it became a permanent incorporated city in 1889. Prior to that time, the town was an unincorporated community which functioned as a trading post between Alexander City and nearby Mobile. The land for the city was donated by J. B. McNeely and Wm. Hatton of Mobile. The first step in developing Alexander City took place when a group of businessmen from Mobile gathered together to discuss what they would do with the land they had acquired from John Clanton following his military victory over Mexico at Chapultepec Castle two years earlier. They decided to build a small village on what would be developed into the current city limits today. On November 17, 1892, incorporation of Alexander City occurred under the name of “Albany” with Aldermen Hezekiah Davenport (R) and Lorenzo Graves (D). The citizens voted to change their name back to its original title on January 8th of that year due to objections fromMobile Mayor Walter Pugh who felt that Albany should remain separate from his city because it had been more successful than Mobile in terms of economic development since its incorporation into municipal government one year earlier. After having served as mayor for only three months before being replaced by Pugh himself, Graves died suddenly just days before he was set to take office again on February 1st1893 leaving Hezekiah Davenport as acting mayor until someone could be found who met all qualifications for election as Mayor including owning property within the boundaries of Alexander City proper or residing there permanently at least twelve months preceding election day; this person failed to appear so an open meeting was called on March 3rd where it was announced that Moses Brown would succeed him as Mayor effective immediately upon Graves’ death without any opposition coming forward; Brown soon became known as one ofAlexander City’s most active residents both politically and economically due to his ownership and management of several businesses within the bounds of the city limits during his tenure; Brown also helped develop many aspects associated with downtown Alexandria such as Broadway Street which now bears his name while still retaining much history relating thereto including – but not limited to – two historical limestone blocks still standing near downtown which were once used for public executions prior to 1840 when those crimes were moved out of state according to Governor Murdoch Whitfield; these blocks are currently ON display at Old Alexandria State Park adjacent To Auburn University In 1897-98 Antonio Lopez purchased 160 acres east side Of Boulevard Of Commerce & built 4 homes (now facing south) next door To Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Catholic Church ol' Spanish Oaks Cemetery #3A in present day Spriggsville Township Magna Carta Community College Campus located off I-10 Exit 230 approximately 3 miles East Of Battle Creek Rd., AL 35901
