Alexander City is a small town in Alabama, located near the Tennessee state line. The community was founded in 1871 by John Alexander and his family. It was named for General Andrew Jackson, who died in 1845. Alexander City had a population of just over 100 people when it first came to be, but it grew rapidly after the opening of the Alabama Railroad in 1875. By 1900, the population had reached 1,500 people. Holsters have been an important part of law enforcement in Alexander City since at least the 1860s. In that year, Sheriff J.M. Welsh unofficially started using holsters as part of his department's uniformed patrols. Holsters were also common among local marshals during this time period because they could keep handguns close at hand while performing their duties. In 1875, General George Halleck ordered all U.S.-occupied Confederate Soldiers to disarm and return to their homes within three days or face consequences such as imprisonment and loss of arms and ammunition privileges within our country proper (Alabama). Many Local Officers decided not to comply with this order and took steps to protect themselves by acquireing holsters for their handguns- most notably Sheriff Welsh who acquired a holster specifically designed for carrying revolvers (known today as a Python). This event marked an early beginning for holster technology in America which would later lead to widespread adoption throughout law enforcement across both hemispheres! As Birmingham began growing more populous and businesses flourished due to its proximity to multiple markets like Nashville/Frankfort/ Chattanooga etc., so too did interest in purchasing property adjacent to what became known as "The Square" began cropping up throughout southern Jefferson County! One such purchaser was A&P Hardware Co., who purchased land east of present day I-565 on what is now called Spring Branch Road (later renamed US 421) from Colonel James Hargrave! This purchase allowed A&P some much needed real estate expansion within downtown Birmingham while also providing easy access to firearms should something happen where Birmingham'szie border with Jefferson County! The success of A&P Hardware's endeavor led other entrepreneurs soon followed suit; many prominent citizens being Bowie & Wesson Firearms Manufacturing Company owner Samuel Coltsborg (a native of Mobile), Bryant Gunsmithy & Supply Co., Jacobsen’s hardware store on Main Street (now occupied by AutoZone), Roper’s general store on Court Avenue (#1), Ladd’s grocery store on Auburn Boulevard (#2) – all quickly becoming centers around which pistols could be bought and sold! This rapid growth led one man - Hiram Brown - proprietor of Brownie’s candy store on Third Street -to open his own firing range along Spring Branch Road opposite modern day I-565! This new addition not onlyserved as an indoor shooting range for pistol enthusiasts but also functioned as a storage facility for military surplus rifles confiscated during war time!!!!!!

The first settler in Alexander City was James Craddock, who arrived in 1824. Other early settlers included John Pemberton and his family, Joseph Wheeler, Lewis Davenport and his family, Isaac Haas and his family, Jacob Slaughter and his family, Peter Folsom and his families, Samuel Whitman andhis families. In 1830 the town had only three residents; by 1840 it had twelve. Alexander City's growth came primarily from its location: on the Cahaba River between Mobile Bayou to the north and peach orchards to the south. The town became a transportation hub for farmers near Mobile Bayou. It also became an important center for trade with surrounding communities such as Tuskegee (to the east), Decatur (to the west), Selma (to the northwest) and Cullman (to the south). After Tennessee's secession fromthe Union in 1861, Alexander City remained loyal to Confederate forces even after most other southern towns did not do so. During the Civil War many residents chose to stay within Confederate lines rather than leave their homes due to fear of retribution should they be caught up in hostilities. This sentiment may have been motivated by a sense of Solidarity with those living under Yankee rule while all others were fighting for their independence; or perhaps simply out of love for whatJackson had done for Alabama during both Reconstruction years following slavery’s end - leading to new opportunities for African Americans across much of Southern America. In 1865 Alexander City was burned down by Yankees during General Sherman's march through centralAlabama towards Atlanta; this event helped spur continued support for Confederate efforts throughout that year despite increasing pressure from Union forces advancing towards Athens/Mobile Bayou where most people lived. Afterward most people returned home except some who decided to move into neighboring towns such asDecatur or Selma until recently when plans are underway for construction of a new community called "Alexander City Farms" located about two miles west-northwest of downtown Alexander City on Ulysses S Grant Boulevard just outside Interstate 10 Exit 5A
