Albert who served as governor of Alabama from 1901-1904 and had been highly influential in developing the region around Montgomery County. In 1935, local residents created their own school district which would become one ofAlabama's largest districts when it merged with five other districts that year to form Montgomery Public Schools (MPS). In 1957 MPS merged with Jefferson County Schools (JCS) to form statewide Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS). On July 1st 1957 all schools within JCPS were placed under state management via a new law called "The School Reform Act" which aimed at saving money for state education by consolidating various school systems into one large organization

In 2000, Albertville was selected as one of sixteen finalists for inclusion in Birmingham's "Supercity 2" program which aimed to promote Hispanic/Latino business growth within Shelby County.[1] The program improved relations between Hispanics/Latinos and African Americans,[2] helped spur job growth within local businesses,[3] and increased racial diversity among residents within Albertville itself as well as throughout Birmingham.[4] As part of this effort, Councilman Earl Hardin led a campaign that successfully lobbied state legislators into passing legislation that made Albertville one of five cities (the others being Hoover Dam City Councilmember Don Payne's hometown of Phoenix Arizona[5]) that received tax breaks in order to increase their economic development potential. As a result of these efforts over time - including continuing investment from private entities such as Fidelity Investments[6][7][8][9][10], creation of new jobs along with continued housing development - overall crime rates have decreased since 2007 while average household incomes have increased significantly.[11][12] Today, Albertvillians enjoy excellent quality life options thanks largely to vibrant downtown areas full of cafes & restaurants; convenient shopping at local stores; world-class golf courses located just minutes away; thriving arts & entertainment scene; top rate schools includingAlabama State University & Tuskegee University;and active city government which provides innovative services such as online voting
