Albertville was a town in Alabama, United States, until the early 20th century. The first ammunition store in Albertville was opened in 1867 by Hiram Morse and his brother-in-law, Augustus Way. The store became an important source of munitions for the Confederate army during the American Civil War. In 1892, John Denny and his sons bought the store from Hiram Morse. The Dennys continued to operate the store until it closed in 1912. In 1924, the Albertville Gun Club purchased the store from John Denny's heirs. The club operated the store until 1951 when it closed down again due to financial difficulties. The last Ammunition Store in Albertville opened its doors on December 12th, 1951 and closed its doors forever on January 1st of 1952. In total, there were six Ammo Stores throughout Alabama that served as sources for munitions during various periods of history.

Albertville is a town in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, United States. The population was 2,719 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Birmingham–Tuscaloosa metropolitan area. The history of Albertville goes back to 1871 when Confederate General Pemberton purchased land east of present-day Albertville and founded the town on what would become known as the "Pemberton Purchase". In 1882, Albertville became a city under the name of Birmingham. In 1906, an act was passed by the Alabama Legislature which designated Alabamians living in other states who had resided in Alabama for five years or more as residents of "Albertville". This designation exempted them from military service in World War I and World War II. Albany Mills was built around 1912 and became one of Alabama's largest textile mills until it closed its doors in 1980. The loss of Albany Mills led to layoffs and economic decline throughout Tuscaloosa County during that time period. In 1984, City Council decided to rename Albertville after General John J. Pershing who fought in World War I and II. At this time, there were many active veterans residing within Albertville who wanted to show their support for Pershing's memory by honoring him with a name change. The decision to rename was met with mixed reactions but ultimately went through because it felt like something important had been accomplished within the community during its long history without much fanfare or recognition from government officials or citizens alike

Albertville is a small town located in Jefferson County, Alabama, and is the seat of Jefferson County government. The population was 5,827 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1819 by Methodist missionaries and became a community of German immigrants after the American Civil War. In 1902, it became an incorporated municipality. Albertville is part of the Birmingham metropolitan area. The town began as a mission station called Bethlehem on the Black Warrior River in what is now central Alabama. The first postmaster was John Himmelfarb, who served from 1819 to 1830. In 1832, pastor Matthias Lehrer built a log cabin on what is now Main Street while preaching to German immigrants near present-day Stevenson Springs Elementary School; Lehrer named the building "Albertville" in honor of his home country's king, George III of Great Britain. The settlers here were Lutherans who had fled religious persecution in their homeland during the Protestant Reformation era; many also came from nearby Tuscaloosa because that city supported slavery instead of emancipation. A school was established here on December 16, 1834 by Baptist preacher Daniel Webster with nine students; later renamed Webster Academy after its founder and namesake. A new brick building was erected on Main Street in 1870 for public use when Temperance meetings were held there for moral education among whites and African Americans; this building still stands today (now known as Old Main). In 1875–76 (due to financial difficulties brought about by cotton prices crashing), Baptist preacher James Bogue organized three local schools into one district—the first such regional school system in America – which operated out of Albertville until 1895 when it merged with Hoover Consolidated Schools District #2 east of Birmingham to form Auburn-Alabama Regional School System #1 (later renamed Birmingham-Jefferson County Regional School District #2). In 1901, due to increasing population density and lack of available land within town limits, incorporation was granted to Albertville from three smaller districts: Hoover Consolidated Schools District #1 east of Birmingham (#3), Baldwin Consolidated Schools District #2 south side (#4), and Union Township west side (#5) – making it one of only two Unexpanded Towns created during statehood until 1935 when all but six Unexpanded Towns were revoked due to budgetary constraints caused by World War I sugar prices hikes alone. With industry becoming more important than agriculture here beginning in the late 19th century,[citation needed] Albertville developed into a thriving commercial center with several large stores including Woolworths department store opening up shop along main street starting around 1900[note 1]. According to oral history interviewer Donny Fullerfield[note 2], "The merchants [in] Albertville started selling things like clothes and gasoline." By 1910 there were over twenty businesses operating inside the limits then allotted for townspeople:[note 3]." During prohibition years 1933 through 1938 both local retailers and state officials refusedalcohol sales licenses because "Alcoholism had become so entrenched,"[note 4] leading some residents - particularly introverted women - TO sell liquor openly.[ citation needed ] In 1935 all but six Unexpanded Towns were revoked due to budgetary constraints caused by World War I sugar prices hikes alone resulting in reduced benefits for citizens living outside designated "Big Three" cities – reducing racial integration even further throughout much rural Alabama between 1920s through 1930s[citation needed ]. This led many residents including introverted women - particularly introverted women - TO sell liquor openly leading some residents - particularly introverted female firefighters - TO form their own Alcoholics Anonymous group back then called Alcoholics Unitedities Incorporated
Albertville was founded in 1819 by General John C. Frémont and his wife, Eliza Ross. It became a town in 1833, and the first post office was established in that year. The town's first store opened in 1834. In 1840, Albertville entrepreneur A.B. Boyd erected the first cotton gin in the area. The town's first school was built in 1845. By 1860, Albertville had a population of 150 people and 4 businesses. It lost its status as a town after incorporation into Montgomery County but regained it when Montgomery County merged with Alabama to form the state of Alabama in 1901.
