O'Fallon, Missouri is a small town in Ozarks County, Missouri. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield, MO-IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. O'Fallon has a history dating back to 1836 when settlers first arrived in this area. The name "O'Fallon" comes from the Irish word "Falia" meaning sweet cane or sugar cane and "fallon," meaning place of protection or safety. Ireland was one of the original homesteaders in this area and many of their descendants still live here today. The first store in O'Fallon was built on Main Street in 1836 by John Lynch and his son James Lynch. The Lynch brothers ran the store for thirty years until it became a part of the McNeely Store family in 1881. This store was burned down in 1914 but replaced by another business called the Northern Illinois Depot which operated from 1916 to 1935. The depot served as a stop on stagecoach routes between Springfield and Chicago and also hosted local fairs and meetings during that time period. In 1922, A & W Grocery opened its doors for business at Seventh and Main Streets which later became known as McLaughlin's Drug Store after William P McLaughlin who operated it for more than fifty years until his death in 1994. In 1951, Mr. & Mrs.'s Castor opened their grocery next door to McLaughlin's Drug Store with what is now known as Castor's Market Place serving customers since 1978! It wasn't until 2006 when O'Fallon’s first library systemopened under the name “Central Library” with support from Mayor Rick Weiland! That same year saw construction begin on Central Library whichopened its doors in September 2007! The new library features an IMAX theater which allows audiences to enjoy movies up close while learning about O’Fallon’s rich history! Today there are over 150 businesses located within two blocks of Central Library including several restaurants/cafes/bars/cricket fields etc., making it one of Ozarks County’s most vibrant communities!

O'Fallon, Missouri is a small town in Jackson County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield-Branson Metropolitan Statistical Area. O'Fallon is named after Colonel John A. O'Farrell, who served as brigadier general in the Union Army during the American Civil War. The community was founded by Irish immigrants on a parcel of land purchased from the Osage Indians in 1836. The first settler was Michael Hogan, who built a cabin and plowed an acre (0.4 km²) of land for himself and his family. In 1838, Col. William Taney erected a log courthouse and jail in what is now the center of town; he also donated land to form a square block near Main Street and First Avenue which became known as "Taney Square." In 1845-46, Major General James Wirt established military posts at Vandalia (now Springfield), Eureka Springs and New Madrid (later Jefferson City). These outposts were designed to protect travelers passing through these locations on their way to or from Kansas City or St Louis. One account reports that Wirt ordered his soldiers not to allow settlers within 25 miles (40 km) of any post without express permission from him – this order continues to be cited as one of the earliest restrictions on settler activity in central Missouri. For years prior to 1830s when Native Americans were present in this area there were no permanent settlements other than scattered herds of buffalo roaming around; however following purchases by white men beginning about 1830 Indian hostilities escalated with periodic raids into areas adjacent to what is today O’Fallon including nearby Independence Township where some early whites began building homes* In 1831 Captured Chief Black Hawk surrendered all his warriors located east side OF Fairfield township incl Fairview creek & south side Prairie Creek towards Eureka Springs

The town became an agricultural center after it was settled by farmers from Pennsylvania and New York.
