O'Fallon, MO is known as the " Optical Capital of the World" because of its world-renowned optical industry. O'Fallon was a small town when it started to produce optical equipment in the late 1800s, but over time its reputation as an center for optical technology has only grown. This innovation led to creation of modern optics by other inventors such as George Stephenson and Arthur Conan Doyle! In 1892, Konrad Zuse donated his entire estate (including his company) to Missouri State University so that students could study engineering at one of Missouri's leading institutions! This event marked an important milestone in Missouri State University's history - it now houses one of Missouri's top universities focused on technology! O'Fallon is a small town in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri, United States. The population was 5,834 at the 2000 census. It lies about 21 miles (35 km) west of St. Louis on I-640 and about 38 miles (61 km) east of Springfield on I-55. O'Fallon was founded in 1839 by Palmyra natives John and Jane O'Farrell as a station on the Volga Railroad. In 1849, it became part of the newly formed county of Howard. In 1865, it was taken off the county map and given to neighboring Pulaski County. In 1871, it again became part ofHoward County; but in 1889, when that county was disbanded, O'Fallon reverted back to its original name. The first post office in O'Fallon was established in 1839; but it closed operation within a few years because no mail could be brought into the town from rural areas more than 10 miles (16 km) away. The first store opened in 1840 inside what is now the old courthouse building; but this store failed to catch on and closed within a few years also because no one wanted to go out there during summertime for goods that were not available year-round elsewhere. The first school occurred in 1850; but it did not operate for very long because only children between 4 and 8 years old were allowed to attend purposes other than teaching them reading and math skills which would have been more useful for learning practical things like farming or shopkeeping skills! In 1860 there were only 11 residents living here – all farmers who grew crops that they sold to local merchants who then bought products from local usurers! O'Fallon, Missouri is a small town located in the Ozarks Mountains of eastern Missouri. The town was founded in 1837 by John and Anna O'Fallon. The original name for the town was "Ozark". In 1881, the townsite of Springdale was annexed to O'Fallon. In 1943, the townsite of Rocksville was annexed to O'Fallon. The population of O'Fallon peaked at 2,191 in 1963 and has since declined modestly. Today, the population stands at 602 as of 2019. The history of O'Fallon begins with John and Anna O’ Fallons who were settlers in this area in 1837. They first came to this area because they were looking for land that would provide them with food and shelter during their journey westward from Ireland. This area had been occupied by Native Americans for many years before they were finally subdued by the United States government around 1800 A.D.. This region now includes parts of east MO including Springfield County and much later Ozark County which today makes up much of western Kansas City proper (known locally as KC). When it became apparent that America would soon enter into a period of great conflict with Great Britain over control of North America, John decided to migrate his family westward into what is now southeastern Kansas Territory on December 10th, 1833 just before national independence from Great Britain was celebrated across the continent. With only 3 men and their families making the trip there were high hopes that they could find decent land and build some kindOf new life after nearly four weeks hiking through snow-covered mountainsides – but amazingly enough they found a tract just right where they wanted it: not only did they have a home but also acres surrounding it included timberland perfect for building homes! And so began one such amazing story which would continue unchanged until 1863 when Rockville Township was established within present day Springfield Township… thus starting one more chapter in our town’s rich history! John & Anna loved their new home near Springdale so much that they decided to keep it even when prices for land started going up back East during those early days following reconstruction following the Civil War; however within 5 years or so prices again went down due to changes brought about by railroad construction! Shortly thereafter Anna passed away leaving John sole proprietor & head builder & driver/builder business endeavors immediately followed until his death at 89 years old on November 14th 1865 from pneumonia contracted while performing workmen’s compensation services out West – an event we all remember quite vividly here at home as Mrs Anna Post funeral procession stopped traffic on Main Street just past our Presbyterian Churchyard entrance! After her passing he bequeathed his entire estate outright (& property values continued to rise) – an event we celebrate each year on November 14th when trees bring attention back “home sweet home again” for another year or two 😉 As you can see throughout these pages I have tried my best to document both good (euphemisms like “historic” are used sparingly here…) & bad (occasionally very graphic descriptions given which may cause discomfort) aspects associated with our short-lived community hereabouts; living stories are indeed difficult things To write But maybe thats why We always come BACK TO YOU !!
