O'Fallon is a small town in Osage County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield-Branson, MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. O'Fallon was founded in 1821 by Scotsmen who named it after their home country of Scotland. The first settler in what is now O'Fallon was Andrew Blackledge. He and his family started a farm on the east side of town in 1822. Blackledge became a justice of the peace and held many other local office including chairman of the board of education for seven years from 1829 to 1830. He also served as president pro tem for three years from 1830 to 1834. In 1840, John Deasy moved into the area that would become O'Fallon and began building homes. In 1850, he married Margaret White and they started raising two children there: Mary (born about 1851) and John Deasy Jr.. They later moved to nearby Springdale when John Sr.'s health failed him during World War II (1939-1945). Margaret died in 1924; John Jr.'s death occurred in 1959. John Deasy Sr.'s son James Averill Deasy founded Jardine Paper Products Company on July 1, 1896 with one hundred acres south of where Jardinelaterbecamea major playerinpostwar America's paper industry James AverillDeasey(1863-1946), oneofJardine'sfour sonsandthelastsurvivingmemberoftheoriginalcompanywasJamesAverillDeaseyJr.(1892-1976).
