The first gunslingers in O'Fallon were the Dodge brothers, who started shooting pistols and shotguns at a local fair in 1881. By 1894, they had developed a rifle that could be fired from a slingshot. The brothers soon became known as the "Gun Slingers". In 1892, they organized their own shooting society, which they called the Illini Rifle Club. They met to shoot at various locations in town until 1895 when they built their own range on the north side of town. Their new range was known for its difficult terrain and excellent marksmanship. The Gun Slingers continued to improve their skills and by 1903, they had become one of Missouri's leading rifle clubs.
O'Fallon, Missouri is a small town in Clay County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield, MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. O'Fallon was founded in 1855 by Irish immigrants from County Clare. The name comes from an old Gaelic word meaning "west of the Shannon" and refers to a mountain range that borders on the town. The townsite was platted in 1855 by John Dickey and other Irish immigrants who had come to America looking for new opportunities. Dickey and his brothers-in-law decided to settle on a farm near what is now known as Midway Road because it offered enough room to build a fortification and they could get goods and services delivered directly to their doorsteps. Their first store opened in 1859. O'Fallon's railroad station was established in 1865 when the Hannibal & St Louis Railroad built its line through Clay County. O'Fallon has always been a business center with many local businesses - including two banks - serving its residents since its founding. Its industries have included automotive manufacturing (until the late 1970s), paper products (until 1984), meat processing (from 1919 until 1996), telecommunications (from 1985 until 2000) and health care services (from 2002 until present). In recent years, some of O'Fallon's most notable businesses have been Myriad Health Care Solutions Inc., which provides healthcare consulting; Valley Orthopedics Associates Inc., which provides physical therapy; and Renaissance Technologies LLC., which does business as Myriad Capital Management LLC.). In recent decades, O'Fallon has also become well known for its annual corn maze competition held at High Schools throughout Clay County during October/November each year

O'Fallon, Missouri is a small town located in Dixon County, Missouri. The population was 2,000 at the 2010 census. O'Fallon is part of the Springfield-St. Charles Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in O'Fallon was James McMaster who arrived in 1796 and erected a log cabin on the east side of creek bed just south of present day State Route K. In 1812, John Waddell also settled here and platted his land around what is now Main Street. George Fenton built a dam near present day Union Pacific Railroad tracks on the White River in 1827 and named it after himself – Fenton Dam. In 1836, General Andrew Jackson's army passed through Dixon County while campaigning against Native Americans and stopped at Fenton Dam to rest supplies before continuing their journey to the Battle of Horseshoe Bend that same night. The following year, Indian traders reported seeing horse sickness throughout much of Missouri due to overworking from carrying food for military campaigns overseas; this led to Jackson ordering all militia units not to bring any horses back into camp for transport home until they had recovered! The town started as a small cabin community centered around what is now Main Street with about 25 residents by 1840 according to local history books but by 1850 there were only 6 or 7 residents living in what is now downtown O'Fallon when railroad construction began nearby in 1854. By 1860 there were more than 100 people living here including 60 soldiers garrisoned at Fort Donelson which later became known as O'Fallon Army Depot during World War II because it was used by American forces for munitions production testing! During Prohibition age prohibitionists set up " speakeasies" throughout central Missouri where they sold liquor illegally until 1933 when state law changed prohibiting sales operation within 1/2 mile of any school or public building! This caused many businesses owners in downtown O'Fallon (and elsewhere) to close down either unable to compete with illegal operations or fearing prosecution if their property were raided! However some did still open up after repeal and today These days most business activity takes place online or via mobile devices so no adverse effects have been observed 😉 . In fact one recent development significant enough for mention occurred when locally owned & operated Tap Room moved from its original location across from the old post office building onto First Avenue recently making it one of few places inside downtown where beer can be bought without being served on site 🎵 . . As if having anagrams like "TapRoom" weren't weird Enough!!!
The first European settlers in O'Fallon, Missouri were French women and their children who arrived in 1798. The town was founded by the daughter of a French captain and his wife, Marie-Jacques de Lafayette. When the United States acquired Louisiana from France in 1803, the Lafayette family donated land to establish O'Fallon as an American settlement. In 1821, George Washington visited O'Fallon, and is reported to have remarked that it would be a good place for a military depot. The town grew rapidly during the 19th century due to its natural resources, including coal and oil shale. By 1865, O'Fallon had become one of the largest cities in Missouri. A large cotton gin was built in 1906 and became known as "the Cotton Queen." In 1933, Interstate 40 was completed through central Missouri and Ulysses S Grant Highway was named after him.
