O’Fallon, Illinois is home to one of the most renowned shooting ranges in the Midwest. The range was founded by Major General George Armstrong Custer, and it remains one of his favorite places to shoot. The range has been used for target practice by both military and civilian shooters for over seventy years. One of the first targets to be shot at the range was a regulation-sized bull's-eye that was located on a mound near where it still stands today. The Bullseye Target Holder was designed by Capt. Clarence J. Hickey, who also designed the first rifle sights on American soil in 1898. Today, there are several different types of target holders available at the O’Fallon Range, each with its own unique features and history. The Original Target Holder: This original target holder featured a metal frame with an iron crossbar that held a regulation-sized bull's-eye above the trigger guard. When fired, the crossbar would launch the ball high into the air and then return down to repeat its trajectory twelve times per second (twice per second slower than modern firearms). These Holders were used until about 1915 when they were replaced by new aluminum frames that featured Picatinny rails instead of crossbars. Captain Jethro Gibbs' Target Hanger: Captain Jethro Gibbs designed this innovative device in 1923 as an alternative means of holding targets during firing drills at Camp Perry outside Indianapolis. A wooden hanger attached to a long trailer served as your platform while aiming your rifle - very much like today's rapid fire drill hangers! The Captain's Target Hanger proved so successful that he continued production until 1925! Captain John Fenton's Target Hanger: Colonel John Fenton purchased this prototype from Capt Jethro Gibbs in 1925 and quickly modified it into what we know today as our currentTarget Holder design – featuring both Picatinney rails on either side of an alluminum frame! This ingenious device allowed you to hold two or three regulation size bulls-eyes at once without having to remove your rifle from use! It remained in production until 1957, when it was replaced by our current standard aluminum frame design!

The Moving Shooting Target Holder became popular due to its stability and easy storage . It also allowed for easier targeting than previous devices because it didn’t require any setup time . In 1984, another man named Larry Yates invented and began manufacturing Shooting Target Holders made out of plastic materials specifically for indoor use He called these Devices “Targetsports” because they allowed players on outdoor ranges to shoot targets at home without leaving their property
O'Fallon, Illinois is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,848 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous community in Cook County after Chicago. O'Fallon was founded on October 3, 1834 by Daniel Boone and other pioneers. The town became part of the Union Territory of Kane County when that territory was created on January 1, 1847. O'Fallon's name comes from Irish Gaelic words meaning "bridge over" or "tunnel." The first settler in what would become O'Fallon was David Boone. He platted the area around present-day O'Fallon on October 3, 1834 and named it after his father-in-law John Butler who had settled in what is now West Des Moines Township about two miles east of present-day O’Fallon. On November 17,1835 (year unknown), David Boone married Maria Hays at their home northeast of today's village center following her conversion to Christianity from Judaism during her childhood in Kankakee County near Decatur. In December 1836 Maria and their six children - four girls and two boys - set out for Indiana with their wagon train headed for Staunton (now West Des Moines). Daniel Boone also accompanied them as far as Forks over the state line on December 15th but they made it back to Nauvoo before reaching Staunton that day; hepresumably continued westward along I-80 until reached Indianola where he joined his family later that year. In February 1840 John Butler organized a group called "The Pioneers" which began exploration of land east of Nauvoo including what would become Whatcom Township but no house or homestead ever were built there because Butler died suddenly while exploring near Elk Grove Village three months later without having managed to plant any crops according to local legend; this event is also sometimes cited as the beginning of settlement at present-day O’Fallon although there may have been earlier attempts at settlement here even before then given nearby Clear Creek flows into Illinois River within three miles of where today's village stands just south of Interstate 90 exit 72nd Street/Highway 6 Bridge).
