Swivels were first patented in 1854 by John Fenton. They are a type of firearm swivel that allows the gun to be turned with one hand while it is being held in the other hand. This was an improvement over earlier designs which required two hands to hold the gun and turn it. The first guns to use swivels were made by Smith & Wesson. In 1865, Winchester introduced a model 701 pistol which used a swivel stock. By 1900, almost all firearms had either adjustable or fixed sights and most handguns also featured swivels. Swivels became increasingly common as time went on and eventually replaced traditional stocks on many firearms.

Here is a brief overview of some of the most common types: Cocking swivels: These are designed to rotate the barrel in order to aim it in a desired direction. They come in both standard and cocking arms, and can also be locked into place by tightening a knob on the arm. Takedown swivels: This type of Swivel is usually used when taking firearms down from a standing position. It consists of an arm that attaches directly to the gunstock, and another arm that swings around the stock. The takedown swivel allows for greater accuracy when removing firearms from either hand, as well as easier storage when not in use. Rotation lock swivels: These type of gunswives feature rotating barrels that can be rotated about an axis perpendicular to the firearm's bore axis. This enables users to fire rounds at varying angles without having to worry about changing barrels or ammunition magazines every time they need to shoot something other than their rifle or shotgun.
On October 1, 1875, O'Fallon became the site of the first gun swivel in America when Edward C. Beasley activated a swivel on his farmstead's shotgun barrels. The first settler in what is now O'Fallon was John Collins who arrived in 1837 with his wife and six children from County Clare, Ireland. Collins built a log cabin on the north side of Main Street about two miles (3 km) west of present day O'Fallon. In 1840, James Fenton established himself as a farmer and postmaster at nearby Grand View Station on the Rock River. He also owned several tracts of land along the river near present day O’Fallon and had lumber erected for sawing logs for shipbuilding at Todd’s Point on Rock River Lake near Decatur Junction; this lumber became known as "Fenton's Mill". In 1861, when Abraham Lincoln was elected President, he moved to LaGrange County to become an attorney and started practice at Ford's Law Office on Jackson Avenue which later evolved into Peacock & FordLaw Firm LLP today! In 1868 Daniel Webster founded Webster National Bank in Macomb Township south of present day LaGrange - one of only two banks opened west of Chicago during that time period! Webster conducted business outfitting travelers for their trip downriver to points eastward aboard steamboats called "Pioneers" until 1865 when he bought his last steamboat - "Yankee" - and began operations ashore at Pier 21 where he anchored until 1870 when he sold her to George Washingtons Northern Pacific Railroad Company! In 1870 Jno Peedle set up shop as a hatter at 3rd & Market Streets NW today's Old Fashioned Bakery which became one of downtown LaGranges earliest businesses! In 1871 William Hickey started store #2 across Market from Peedle's business - it would remain open until 1911 when it burned down! On Jan 5th 1886 President Grover Cleveland signed into law An Act To Encourage Immigration To America And Encourage Businessmen To Open Their Own Homebased Businesses (Public Law No: 80-269). This act would spur many Irish immigrants to come livein Illinois while they awaited their chance to immigrate permanently! John McCormick had been farming near what is now South Bend since 1790 but decided to move his operation further south so that he could sell cornmeal instead of potatoes; this became McCormicks Grain Elevator Co., Ltd., still exists today operating outof its original building across High Street from State Fair Park! On July 15th 1903 Samuel Morse inaugurated Electric Railway Service From One End Of The Country To Another At Clinton Depot By Electrified Road Between Evanston And Springfield For All sorts Of Occasions(Electricity Act No: 103-161)! With this new technology came increased commerce throughout much OF THE COUNTRY!!! Today we enjoy our own Quinn’s Pub which opened just adjacentto State Fair Park back in 1984

Shotguns and rifles typically have three positions: off-hand, shoulder-fired, or muzzleloader position. Pistols also have three positions: single action (SA), double action (DA), or auto (A) mode. Auto pistols usually fire one round per trigger pull from the left hand while singleaction pistols generally fire two rounds per trigger pull from the right hand. When using a swivel stock on a pistol, it is important to know which shooting position works best for you as this will impact how accurate your shot will be. For instance, if you are firing an SA pistol in off-hand mode, then you should place your fingers behind the grip of the stock so that your thumb resides between the stocks recoil pad and magazine release lever - unless you are using a subcompact pistol which uses an "off-the-shelf" magazine cycling system where finger engagement is not as critical). Some people prefer to cock their weapons before taking them downrange by rotating them about their swivel stock pivot point such as found on sniper rifles; however most shooters find this move more difficult to do during livefire training exercises due to its high level of cheek weld torque required when performing this maneuver
