Cudahy is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 5,636 at the 2010 census. Cudahy is located on the north shore of Lake Michigan and is part of the Milwaukee-Waukesha metropolitan area. The first European to visit what is now Cudahy was Nicholas Kapp in 1814, and he named it for his friend and mentor John Cadahy, a British gentleman who had been with him during his travels through North America. Cadahy's estate still stands on the edge of town, overlooking the waters of Lake Michigan which make up its namesake. In 1815, General George Armstrong Custer spent two days in Cudahy before hot pursuit by Indian warriors forced him to retreat to Battle Creek Campaign Headquarters near Marquette in November 1815. He named one of his units "The Dakota" after this small community on the east side of town that he frequented while stationed there with his army during these campaigns In 1834, when Jameson Ladd founded Jardine & Ladd Agency on land that would later become Holmdel Township, he laid out a road from Green Bay to Waukesha which served as an important medium between those towns and Chicago viaMilwaukee Road. This marketing corridor would later become known as "the knowerhood trail". With development along this route came rapid growth for Cudahy; by 1840 it had 1,500 residents During World War II much activity took place at Pabst Brewery in nearby Sheboygan which employed approximately 100 people across four plants including six foundries making tanks and other munitions used throughout Europe and Japan alike; all production stopped abruptly due to shortages brought about by war but not before leaving behind a lasting legacy In 1949 Glynn County was created from parts of Manitowoc County following a referendum vote conducted under then Wisconsin Governor Adlai Stevenson IV On July 1, 1961 Cudahy became Town #1 when it merged with neighboring Whitefish City annexed from Sheboygan County

There are now several businesses located in Cudahy such as a grocery store, post office, barbershop, movie theater and more. In addition, there is also an annual festival held in honor of Cudahy's founding fathers which features various cultural events such as music concerts and art exhibitions.
