Samuel Colt reduced this time to days with his new revolver design. After establishing himself as one of America's leading firearms manufacturers, Sam Colt moved his factory to Hartford County, Connecticut in 1857. With so many men fighting for freedom and democracy it was no surprise that weapons such as muskets and pistols became an important part of their arsenal. The war against British tyranny gave rise to demand for new types of firearms that could shoot more than just shot balls through loopholes in fences or walls at close range.
