Mcminnville is a town in McMinn County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Memphis Metropolitan Statistical Area. Ammunition production began in Mcminnville in 1881. The first factory was built on what is now US Highway 61 and it produced the Springfield rifle and ammunition. In 1919, the company moved to its current location on State Route 7 nearpresent day Hoover Dam National Monument. The Winchester Repeating Arms Company (Winchester) also established a plant here in 1925-1926 due to increased demand for their ammunition following World War I; however, this plant ultimately closed because of the Great Depression. The last major ammo production facility in Mcminnville closed down in 1984 with all operations moving to new facilities throughout Tennessee and Mississippi since that time.
McMINNville is a small town in Butler County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,709 at the 2010 census. The town is part of the Memphis metropolitan area. It was founded by Scots-Irish immigrants in 1819. The name "McMINNville" is derived from the Gaelic word "mchnaill," meaning "humble place." The first settlers were Presbyterian missionaries who arrived in 1819 and named their settlement after their mentor, Rev. John McInnes. In 1821, the community had a population of just seven people and built its first frame house on what is now Main Street. By 1830, McMINNville had grown to an estimated 2,000 residents and a schoolhouse was added to the west side of Main Street. The early years of McMINNville were difficult but it slowly began to prosper as cotton plantations were established throughout Butler County by slaveowners looking for labor for their fields. By 1860, there were over 40 cotton plantations in operation in Mc MINNVILLE and its surrounding areas. Cotton production declined during the Civil War but continued until 1865 when it peaked with more than 100 bales per day being produced statewide according to Union reports During Reconstruction following the Civil War, many Scots-Irish immigrants found themselves struggling anew amid deprivation and violence caused by Reconstruction policies that favored white supremacists over African Americans . Many turned to crime which further exacerbated economic conditions within Mc MINNVILLE and other rural communities across America . In 1881 – one year after his death – mayor James McGill organized a citizens' committee which recommended dividing Butler County into blocks along racial lines with each block electing one representative to a state board responsible for various aspects of government including education (the same body that would approve black bus transportation). This plan failed despite public opposition However, through hard work by Mayor McGill's successors successive generations of natives have kept McMINNVILLE thriving as an agricultural center - home to 17 businesses including two banks - while also developing several new industries such as trucking and tourism

Mcminnville was founded in 1814 by Captain John McQueen and his wife, Anne. The town was named after General Robert E. Lee, who skirmished with the British near the town in 1812. In 1821, Colonel James Hogg bought McQueen's land and built a new home there. When Hogg died in 1827, his widow married Daniel Boone and moved to Boone Valley to live with him. In 1830, Colonel John Sevier bought Hogg's land and made McQueen's old home his headquarters. In 1837, Sevier sold the town to Governor Donelson for $2,500. At first, the citizens of Mcminnville used their homes as stores and workshops until they started a school in 1840 which became the first high school in Tennessee. After a fire destroyed most of the buildings in 1861-1862, the citizens rebuilt using logs from nearby timber mills. The present day bank building (1901) is one of only two buildings remaining from that time period. The other building is now occupied by First Presbyterian Church (1896). The townspeople developed a rich agricultural history which still dominates today when you look at their crops or take a walk around their farms fields; cornbeans being an especially key crop during this time period . One significant event that took place within Mcminnville’s history is when on December 17th 1861 Confederate soldier Private First Class Rutherford Blease attacked and killed three Union soldiers while they were eating dinner at an inn called “The Forge” located just outside of town limits . This event helped solidify support for secession among some residents of Mcminnville who felt that what had happened at Ford’s Theatre should not have been allowed to happen . Other events that occurred within this timeframe include: In 1865 Major General William Troup led an attack against Union forces stationed at McDowell Gap but were repulsed resulting in over 50 casualties including members of Company K1/5 of 2nd Tennessee Volunteers Infantry Regiment under Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer; local resident Amos Beard later became known as America’s Got Talent because he managed to catch more than 60 birds during one day while hunting hogs on his property In 1870 Wm J Dunn ran for Mayoralty against incumbent Atherton Prentice but lost by 4 votes; Dunn would later become mayor himself In 1903 Reverend J Fenton became pastor of First Presbyterian Church Today much like then McFeminville has come back strong thanks to its many businesses and organizations such as: McIntyre Middle School (built 1978), Dutch Bros., Coca Cola Bottling Plant (opened 1984), State Fairgrounds & Recreation Complex (opened 1998), Knox County Schools District #1 (opened 2002) etc...
The town of Mcminnville, Tennessee was founded in 1824 by John McNairy and his wife, Margaret. The community grew rapidly due to the success of its cotton plantations and local hunting and fishing opportunities. By 1830, the McNairy family had built a large home on the banks of the Cumberland River. In 1837, McNairy married Martha Jane Wright. The Wrights became prominent citizens in Mcminnville and played an important role in its growth. They were instrumental in developing the town's economy and leading a variety of civic activities. In 1865, they moved to Nashville after their son John McNairy successful ran for Congress as a Whig candidate.
