Watertown, South Dakota is a city in and the county seat of Sioux City, Iowa. It was founded in 1873 by members of the Nebraska Territorial Army as Fort Atkinson. The city was named for Watertown, Nebraska, which was then part of Nebraska. In 1902, Watertown became a town and in 1912 it became an incorporated city. In 1970, Watertown joined the metropolitan area of Sioux City. Watertown is home to the University of South Dakota (USD), which opened in 1862 as Lincoln College and has since become one of the leading universities in the United States. The university campus spans over 11 blocks on a square downtown block with more than 100 buildings and facilities. The USD campus includes three colleges: Sheridan College; Northern Illinois University; and USU-Main Campus.USD also operates USD Business School, USD Creative Arts Center, USD Dental Schools and USD Veterinary School. The Sioux City Zoo is America's second largest zoo after Madison Park Zoo in Chicago IL . In 1915 when World War I beganWWI saw heavy fighting taking place along both fronts including trench warfare across Europe with no end in sight for either side until 1918 when Armistice Day arrived following months of talks between Allies and Central Powers about ending hostilities without any decisive results being achieved; this led to multiple treaties were signed throughout 1918 setting up certain rules for future wars such as demilitarization – these treaties signing also included Watertown residents Nicholas Wade (1854-1915) , Wm Henson (1863-1945), John McCloy (1869-1947), Edwin Loomis (1876-1960), James Fenton Jnr.(1881-1964) . Allied troops continued to fight through November 1918 but by December 8th they had withdrawn from most European theaters having failed to achieve their objectives despite spending millions more than their adversaries did on campaigns across many fronts; this ended what would come to be known as World War I – one of history's deadliest conflicts ever fought with over 50 million people dead or wounded worldwide out of a total population of over six billion people alive at that time

Watertown is a small town in north-central South Dakota. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of Pierre County. Watertown was founded in 1868 as a cattle town on the White River, about 12 miles upstream from present-day Pierre. The town prospered for years due to its location and its access to the river, but by 1900 it had shrunk to just 100 residents. In 1957, when South Dakota merged with North Dakota, Watertown became part of North Dakota’s new state capital, Fargo. However, since Fargo is located in an area where water resources are scarce and most of the city’s infrastructure has been built on landfill or sand fill instead of earth or rock, Watertown remains an unimportant community today. The history of Watertown goes back much further than that though. The first settlers arrived here in 1868 after being driven out of their original homesteads near Fort Laramie by Sioux Indians who were looking for land to cultivate according to Indian custom. Over time many other families followed suit until by 1890 there were over 200 people living hereabouts including some who had moved westward from Illinois and Indiana during the American Civil War in order to find new homes nearer battlefields and freedoms unknown to them back home. Watertown began as a cattle town because it was close enough to the White River that roundup operations could be conducted easily without having to go too far into Indian Territory which lay beyond our current borders at that time (the Great Plains). Because water rights were so valuable in those days there was constant competition among ranchers for access to this important resource; indeed one man managedto own all three streams feeding into the White River at one point! Although it would take until World War II for water shortages throughout America (and eventually Europe) due primarily to overgrazing on federal lands we can still see echoes of this type of conflict today with various organizations such as Earthwatch angling for evidence of government collusion with ranch interests infopping irrigation projects outside their allowed bounds - often times resulting in floods which damage infrastructure rather than providing necessary sustenance for local farmers/citizenry!
