The people of Wayne's Valley formed their own village within months of his visit which they called Westbury after him too. In 1840, when western Canada was added to the Union as Canada East, Westbury became part of Erie County along with other eastern towns such as Canandaigua and Utica; however no annexation happened until 1861 when Erie County was divided into three parts: Western Ontario (formerly Niagara County), Eastern Ontario (formerly Albany County) and Syracuse/Westchester County (later Kings Counties). In 1893-1894 Western Ontario joined together with Southern Ontario forming Niagara District; however vestiges of Erie County remain throughout this period including Westbury itself although most development has taken place outside its town limits since then. Today much activity takes place within town limits including shopping at local malls like Walmart or Kmart while also taking place outside its bounds such as summer camps or music festivals held at various locations around town each year like those occurring at nearby Seneca Lake each July during Camp Paddlewheelers!

These districts provide for an exciting mix of housing types including single-family homes; multifamily dwellings; apartments; condos; etc., while still maintaining close relationships with key neighbors in both villages through social events such as farmers' markets and potlucks hosted jointly each year at both villages’ civic centers!

Westbury was first settled in 1764 by the Winthrop family. The name originates from the word "west" meaning "east" and "bury" meaning to bury. The town was chartered in 1781 and named for Mount Westbury, which is located in present-day Connecticut. In 1814, Westbury became a census town and remained so until the 1970s.
