Minesola, New York is a small town in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Rochester– Monroe County Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Town of Mineola was first settled in 1814 and incorporated as a village in 1825. Minesola's post office operated from 1827 to 1886. In 1898, Mineola voted to become an unincorporated community within the new Towns of Webster and Greece Municipal Districts. Mineola became a city on February 22, 1957 following the passage of a special act by the New York State Legislature. The city was granted its own charter on March 4, 1957 andEffective Date: January 1-March 4th 1959 On November 9th 1958 Mineola voters passed an ordinance allowing for concealed carry without a permit beginning January 1st 1959 The City Council then passed Resolution No 2/59 increasinggun mag ownership to include alllaw enforcement officers as well as citizens with .22 caliber rifles or handguns with no more than three rounds fired in any 24 hour period

Mineola was incorporated as a village on April 15, 1874. On December 12, 1888 it became a town and on January 1, 1889 it became an unincorporated community. Mineola's post office operated from 1894 to 1959. Mineola is one of the few villages in upstate New York that still has its own school system - Mineola Central High School remains open even after being closed by the local school district in 1975. Mineola was first settled by Dutch colonists who arrived in 1624 and named it "Mijnheer van Heckevelt", meaning "Mylord of Heckevelt". In 1736 Benedict Arnold built a military fort at what is now Mineola Village and called it Fort Niagara because he helped build the Erie Canal there. In 1800 John Morse opened his sawmill on Canandaigua Creek near present-day Lake Ontario which soon became one of the most important mills in central New York City. With Andrew Carnegie's donation of $10 million towards building America's first electric power plant at Niagara Falls in 1914, Mineola had another economic boom thanks to heavy industry growth until World War II when mines were lost or destroyed during bombing raids by the Japanese Empire; this led to a decline in industrial activity throughout postwar years although some new businesses have arisen since then such as internet start-ups and software companies; today mineolas mainstay are agriculture ( principally corn) and light manufacturing ( predominantly toys). The area around Minesection Point on Niagara River where much early development took place has been preserved for walking tourists as part of Niagara Park which straddles both sides of Mohawk Lake between Toronto and Buffalo; east side includes photosque villages such as Sleepy Hollow with its famous grotto unchanged since 1776 while west side features sturdy commercial buildings from post-war days including POWER PLANT 2GEHG:built by GEICO for their subsidiary Westinghouse Electric Corporation – successor company to American Telephone & Telegraph Company – now run by Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) as national broadcaster CTV! Also within easy reach are two large shopping centres: One just outside downtown Buffalo serving mainly retail stores while larger shopping center located adjacent to Credit Union Plaza also contains large electronics retailers along with several restaurants/bars/nightlife options
